Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Clearly no elves want plant pots at the moment!

I've dedicated my [community profile] drabble_zone entry to you on their behalf!

Having a good night's rest is probably the sensible thing to do.

A shortage of gardening elves!

I currently have three small cross stitch projects on the go: one birthday card, a unicorn for mini Hobbit and a sloth for me. Not sure how that happened...

No, I didn't know that. I shall have to make use of it. They are also very good swimmers.

Well, now I know more about sloths than I would have expected! Also, a sloth cross-stitch project sounds like a noble and worthy venture. I look forward to seeing the result!

Well, considering how slow they do things, they probably need to hold their breath a lot. *g*

I had a very housework-heavy day. Still, I managed to squeeze in some crafting while vegetating in front of the telly after all that. I've stitched together the white and black front panels of my penguins and equipped them with fairly oversized, shockingly orange beaks. Their feet will have the same colour; the trial piece actually looks very funny.

So am I, TBH.

I keep forgetting to reply to these posts! (I was on a cross-stitch kick for a while there, but that seems to have run down again.) I’m a shawl kick at the moment. I got a couple of balls of wool in the January sales that are of the one ball makes a shawl and has a pattern on the ball band. I haven’t made the shawl on the band, but I did an online shawl shaping class during the first lockdown and made a bunch of mini shawls, so I’ve used two of the balls to make my favourite shapes from that class in full sized versions, and I’ve got a bit hooked on making shawls. I always used to be intimidated by anything resembling lacework because I always seemed to get my YOs in the wrong direction, but doing these simple shawls seems to have got the skill into my head properly.

So I’ve just started a new shawl from a proper pattern and it’s got a ‘mesh’ section and it’s coming out really well?! Shawls might be becoming my ‘thing’? Maybe?

I’m going to need to buy blocking boards aren’t I?

I’m very new to it! It’s a totally new skill set and I’m very much not sure what I’m doing!

Normally I just block things on my ironing board but my latest shawl is just too big for that! I can only do half of it at a time and that’s…not ideal!
