Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

It's been a hot and tiring day. My friend came to do my shopping so I had to dig a cool bag out of the back of the pantry to keep the yogurts and ice cream from cooking. I had a coal delivery too, and the guys always want to chat. Not that I mind. I've been a customer for 30 years or more.

I did get out to the greenhouse despite the heat. Moved two more boxes to the other greenhouse and emptied three bags, swept up as much of the plastic as I could, and cut back some of the extremely dead ivy inside the greenhouse. Then I went back to cutting the front hedge and got a few more feet of it cut so it's not blocking the pavement (sidewalk) as much. Still needs work, and the height needs to be reduced by a few feet, but the garden waste bin is full, ready for emptying tomorrow.

Yeah, but the household waste bin is already full and won't be emptied for another week, and I already have another big bag of rubbish to go in it...

Trouble is, it's made very little difference in the greenhouse, maybe cleared an 8 inch square of floor space. The stacks of stuff are 5 ft high.

Towering skyscrapers? Yeah, that sounds about right... Hoping to clear enough that I get everything away from the broken panes before we get rain. At present, that gives me 3 days, with temps going from 31C today to 34C on Sunday. Can I do it? Who knows.

I've been working on the basket a little. I've devoted more time the last couple of days to putting a couple coats of clear polyurethane on two shelves. The perils of buying second hand furniture is it might stink. Candles had been stored in the cabinet base of our living room bookshelves. Melted a bit all over the wood. Will be doing the cabinet insides themselves once it's a little cooler.

Having my tonsils out tomorrow - I only had my appt on Tuesday but they had an open slot for their next surgery day, so I went ahead. Have been furiously prepping to feel like crap. Parents are going to hang around this weekend and help do stuff, take care of the dog.

Oh, good luck for the tonsil surgery, and I hope your recovery goes smoothly. I seem to recall that when my husband had his tonsils out, as an adult, they made him eat *toast* afterwards.

I heard that from a person in Ireland. She said it is to make sure the wound is to the point it won't reopen when they send you home. It makes sense, but sounds like torture.

You've been keeping busy! Yes, I bought a small cabinet that's still a bit whiffy inside the drawers. Not sure what to do about that.

Hope the surgery goes smoothly and you don't feel too crappy after. I think a tonsillectomy calls for ice cream though, so that part might be good! Glad your parents are around to help.

We have a THREE GALLON tub of ice cream. The little local grocery gets overstock from a restaurant supply company, and it's all huge yet cheap. My husband was there on Tuesday night and bought it.

It fit in the freezer on it's side. I was laughing because when I bought sick-food for covid, my brother was eating it before I could! He can't eat up all this at least.

I'm a few rows away from finishing my white on white (from yesterday) and then I get to start on the fun part! Stripes on the sweatshirts!

Stitching white on white is so hard, as well as a bit boring, but it's looking really great with the other bright colours!

It's Friday here, so here's my report for Thursday: I finished a large pumpkin. Those take several hours and I'm not exactly sure how long it took because I was reading Discord/Dreamwidth/Ravelry while at it so that slowed me down.

Otherwise, I got one row done on the Glacier Sweep shawl, and cast on the crescent shawl again. I altered the cast on for that to use a garter tab, as I thought it'd look better, but I think my stitch count is off on the rows now. It shouldn't make TOO much difference but I'm going to do some percolating on it to verify the issue, and if so, make some KFBs to get to the proper count so I don't have to worry later on. (there's an eyelet row near the end of the shawl - it probably will work with my stitch count but I'd rather not have to fuss with it if it doesn't, so I want to get the proper stitch count, yeah.)

Yesterday was busy due to gym in the morning with mom, which kills my entire morning/early afternoon, so I didn't get as much done as I hoped but still make some good progress. I have nothing on my agenda for today other than picking up pizza for dinner, so I hope to knock out several small projects.

Great on finish9ing the bigger pumpkin! Also on progress with both shawls. Getting the stitch count right does help with a lot of patterns. Sometimes you can get away with it, but sometimes you really need to get it right.
