Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

I got out in the garden again, filled another bag with rubbish from the greenhouse, cleared most of the remaining laurel leaves off the path although there are still a lot in the hedge so there will no doubt be more on the path before long. Still need to sweep the paths clear of bits as well. Cut back some brambles, but there are a lot that need to be cleared. They're taking over again.

Also did another puzzle. I abandoned one that wasn't going anywhere, but got the next one.

Trouble is, I had all those brambles cleared earlier in the year and they've all grown back.

(A puzzle and a half, even, if you count the one I abandoned!)

Sounds like a never-ending struggle with the garden. *offers sympathetic shoulder*

It really is. I turn my back on the brambles and the next time I look they've grown 3 foot.

Oh dear OF COURSE they have. I currently feel like I'm on top of the weeding but I expect that to be a clever ruse by the weeds.

They're just waiting for you to turn your back. There's one bramble where the juniper used to be that's grown at least 6 inches overnight.

Can't you, I don't know, have it torn out completely with roots or whatnot?

Bramble roots go very deep and they're hell to get out, you'll never get all the root, and this one's behind a retaining wall, for an added level of impossibility. Even if I dig down and get some of the root, it'll probably start growing out of the wall. I have several already doing that.

My friend Evie is going to have a similar problem with very old, very tough wine in her new house... or rather in her new garden.

I had a craft-less day - too many chores. But I did buy an unreadonable amount of craft supplies while running around like a headless chicken. Does that count?

Of course it counts! Buying supplies is an important part of crafting!

Yesterday I finally got the soil sample from the flowerbeds ready for testing, and that's turned in. We also got the paperwork to get a free compost bin from the county & extension board.

I washed the baby blanket and am working on a second heart for the older sister, then I've really got to get the present off to them. Baby was born yesterday.

My surprise lilies have surprised me by blooming the year they were moved, and also by having blue smudges, sometimes almost stripes, on them. I had only had plain pink before. I can't get a good photo either!

A good portion of today was spent fixing my bed. As I rolled out of it this morning, there was a SNAP! sound and my bed suddenly sagged. A portion of one of the runners that holds the slats broke off. >_< Thankfully, this was part of a twin set, and we had the other bed's parts stored in our basement. So with mom's help I retrieved the rail. Then by myself I removed the mattress and box spring from my bed, removed the broken rail, put in the replacement rail, and put the box spring and mattress back. WHEW!

A good portion of today was *also* spent untangling yarn. I had some tweedy yarn (70% silk, 30% cotton) that I found while cleaning. I set up my swift and winder, and the first skein went no problem. I don't have a lot of practice with yarns of that kind of put-up, though, so must've either unknowingly tangled some strands or didn't snap the strands enough on the second skein. It tangled around the swift. >_< I spent probably an hour and a half untangling it, and there's STILL more to be worked on. I had to move the whole swift from the kitchen table (where we eat dinner) to the formal dining room table.

Otherwise: I finished a pumpkin I started late last night, and also finished a bookmark I started yesterday. I started another bookmark but my hook has somehow gone missing in the time while I was away from my desk. Grr. I need to find it because it's the size I need to make some kerchiefs, which is going to be the project for tomorrow's stitch club.

So, it's been A Day. Fingers crossed that I can find that hook.

That sounds like a very stressful day. I hope the rest of the untangling is easier and that your hook turns up!

What a nuisance for you, but a good thing you had the spare parts and could fix the bed.

Yarn tangles are super annoying, good luck with completing the untangling, and I hope you find your crochet hook before stitch club. That really must have been a frustrating day, so kudos for getting a couple of items completed despite everything!!
