Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Had a doctor's appointment this morning, so I went shopping after and found a few bits in the charity shops — some knitting patterns, a set of unused clear stamps of cute teddies, and a pad of decorative papers. It's not complete, someone's used some of the sheets, but it's that rarity of 12 inch square sheets, and there are still quite a lot left. Also found a little pattern stand that might come in handy when I'm knitting or stitching. It folds flt when not in use.

Exactly! Which is why you always have to visit them when they are along your path. ;))

I'm lucky there are quite a few in my local shopping area, 10 I think.

You are lucky indeed. Two craft shops within easy reach have closed during the last year over here; it has become hard to find the right supplies without travelling through half the city.

We only have one actual craft shop, and that's nowhere near where I was, but the pound shop sells a few craft bits. It's hit and miss with the charity shops. Sometimes they have something good, but a lot of the time there's nothing in the craft line.

Does it matter if Anchor and DMC threads are mixed? Not for a major project, but occasionally with the cards I'm stitching I need a shade I don't have amongst my Anchor threads, but do have a small amount (that being all I need) of DMC. I've been mixing them, but wondered what the difference was.

If it isn't a design with set colours and it looks okay it's probably fine for a card or a small bookmark, but I personally wouldn't mix brands on anything bigger than that. Then again, I'm the fussy sort *grins*

Thank you. It's generally things like a bird's beak, just a few stitches where it's certainly not worth buying more thread.

I guess the only difference might be the thickness and finish of the threads might be noticable on some things but I mix stuff all the time. Also if you wanted to highlight a specific part, a different thread may highlight it if it's slightly more glossy or something, so that's a plus!

Thank you. It's probably no more than a dozen stitches and often less, so I doubt it's very noticeable.

Hopefully more sewing tonight but I also have the medieval bath display to update on my website so I can send the link to an event organiser, so not sure how much sewing time will be left.

Work has been so busy and I'm still post-covid tired like a lot of people. I want to make sure I fit in things that make me happy in my day too, because that is important.

The bath page is half done, but I need to finish it and add the hair powder sample and upload it and the images.

Busy, productive day for me! Along with cleaning my room a bit and washing 4 loads of clothes (two loads to be given away to charity) I also did some projects for the craft fair:

* Two snowflakes
* One gnome (well, the pieces. Haven't sewn together yet)
* One bookmark finished, another started
* Finished a tiny pumpkin

I also did the monthly scoring in Nerdopolis and posted the summary for my team and the Rogues.

Finally, I charted a knitting project for Nerdopolis (it's going to be a cowl with binary on it) and cast on.

I have video game plans for the rest of the evening, so probably won't do any more crafting today.

That's a substantial amount of crafting! If you keep up at that pace you'll have plenty for the craft fair.
