Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

I am officially worn out, but it's been fun. I was told the tree guys would probably be here in the afternoon, so pf course they arrived at 9am. I was ready though, I got up early because I know these guys start work really early.

The job took 90 minutes, including getting a mountain ash sapling out from between my garage and the neighbour's fence. One of the guys is tall and skinny, and managed to squeeze into the narrow gap and saw it down.

Then they got on with the juniper, which was a relatively quick job. The laurel took a lot longer, so many branches. I can't use the logs on the fire because apparently laurel wood gives off cyanide. So those logs are going to be left against the hedge to break down naturally and (hopefully) harmlessly.

When the guys left, they only had to drive up the road a bit to their next job, a few houses away.

I spent ages collecting laurel berries because I don't want more laurels growing in difficult places. I'll be finding them on the lawn for weeks I'm sure, we were dragging the massive branches across the grass — yes, I was helping because I can't resist it. It's part of the fun.

The garden looks so much lighter down that end now. I did take photos, but the sun was in the wrong place so I'll have to try again another day. A very successful, if tiring, day.

I hurt all over now though, so it's just as well I don't have to do all that again.

So very true! They didn't even break any more of the greenhouse glass. They did a great job and they're such nice guys. They were very impressed with my preparations, because they knew how it looked before. They always say I can go with them to help on their next job, lol!

Me neither! I'll have to be careful and throw out any suspect bits from the kindling I've been collecting.

Made a fervent attempt to finish off the first skein tonight - it's probably got maybe two more rows in it, but my hand started hurting really badly so I couldn't quite manage it. Next time I pick it up, though!

I worked a tiny bit on the Three Kings felts, but not too much. My fingers are hurting; stitching through several layers of hard felt and double-sided tape are hard on the fingertips. But Christmas is in a comfortable distance, and I've already finished 30 of the 40 different felt ornaments, so I'm good. Unless I can't resist making some penguins, too, which is a distinct possibility. *g*

I'm taking small steps, since the big projects (the 3 quiet books) are already finished. Sometimes being slow is good.

I finished the baby blanket today, including weaving in the ends.

It's dad's birthday, I made a German chocolate cake. It's 3 thin layers. Of course the top layer crumbled as I was assembling! He still ate two pieces.
