Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Those on my flist will have already seen this, but today I posted my month's crafting activities here which includes a few pics I haven't posted here.

We only have pots, which are not my responsibility. And thank you.

I keep thinking I should put my yarn at least on a spreadsheet. I had to dig through a box because I couldn't remember how much green I had, and of course it was at the bottom.
Sunday, July 24th, 2022 08:18 pm (UTC)
That is very true. Even if you have labelled the boxes.

I like the idea of the trees and shrubs blowing about. A bit like Winnie-the-Pooh on a blustery day...

The "Candy Princess" quiet book is finally finished! Yay!

Behold the front cover (sliding activity, you can move the clouds up and down):

The rest of the photos can be viewed here.

I also started working on the Holy Family nativity scenes: 2 out of 10 are finished. I've decided to take it easy for the next few days, to allow my fingertips to recover. Binding the quiet book was brutal work, stitching through multiple layers of felt, double-sided tape and seaming ribbon. Ouch!

All of the pages are adorable!

Well, not as perfect as the creations of those talented women on YouTube, but made with love. ;)

The umbrella was very hard to make. The dratted cords just wouldn't remain taut enough; in the end I just gave up.

The main problem was the very soft felt I used for the page base. But that piece was the only one with the right colour...

I'm already halfway through the 4th skein (did a lot yesterday) on the blanket.

We've started working on the windows. Storm windows need firmed up and re-caulked, the window sashes need repaired or at least reglazed. Husband also decided we needed to paint around bits of the windows at the last minute.
Sunday, July 24th, 2022 08:32 pm (UTC)
That's an impressive amount of progress on the blanket, since you only recently started that skein.

And while doing renovation work at the same time!
Sunday, July 24th, 2022 09:43 pm (UTC)
That's amazing progress on the blanket!

Still making progress on the scarf! I'm nearing the end of the first skein, and it'll likely be about two and a half in total.

Thank you!

I slowly petered out on the shawl I was knitting, and today decided not to push to finish it this month. It was supposed to be a Nerdopolis turn-in, for a Pi Day challenge (it's a half pi shawl) but yeah, too much left to do yet.

Instead, for the Pi Day challenge I'm going to knit cherries! Because the challenge is actually Pi(e) and I love cherry pie so that will work, and shouldn't take too long. I've picked out a pattern and will do it this week.

Today I've been knitting on the last piece needed for that doll outfit I've been working on. It's basically a hooded cape with a scarf/shawl attached. I've finished the hood and cast on/picked up stitches for the scarf portion, but now my hands need a break so no more knitting tonight.

Oh, I also banged out a quick crocheted bookmark, the kind that have a curlicue on one end. That's for Nerdopolis, too, and I will probably do another but my hands seriously need a rest.

I love the idea with the cherries - it's hilarious. I'm sure it will be lovely when done. And the doll outfit sounds lovely.

I'm trying to finish a sampler today, and it's fighting me every step, augh. Maybe it knows that I should be folding laundry instead of stitching. Bah humbug.
Monday, July 25th, 2022 04:03 pm (UTC)
I'm sure the laundry will wait patiently. Mine always does. I've tried to make it bored and impatient, so that it would fold itself, but it never worked. ;)
