Hello to all members, Happy New Year and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
Today's Question: It's the start of a brand new year, so what are your 2021 crafting goals?
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Finished knitting the first of my neighbour's arm warmers and started the second, so around 40 rows knitted.

I've been watching sales and now have bought yarn for both baby blankets. I didn't get as far as crafting. A storm dumped 5 inches of snow on us this morning & I had to shovel this afternoon.

Sometimes there are other priorities which can't helped.

How annoying! I hate snow and we've got that forecast for this afternoon. I will not be shovelling anything though. With no heat indoors I can't afford to get cold outside.

This year I'm hoping to keep up the knitting and continue branching out into bigger projects and new techniques. If I could maintain my knitting trajectory from 2020 I'll be a very happy camper. I also have a bunch of embroidery things I bought late last year and still haven't put to use, and I want to work on my handsewing and mending skills.

Ha, will it though?
My sewing skills are terrible. Another thing I should do this year is decide what in the sewing pile just needs to go.

Those sound like excellent goals. You can do it!

I want to knit a beaded project (something I've never done before).
I want to spin more--aim for 15 minutes a day. However I've also decided that for the first week of 2021, I'm not making myself do anything. I want a week of doing next to nothing--or at least not planning anything.

A week off sounds like a good idea, recharge the batteries, get you ready to dive headlong into your WiPs and other projects. Good luck!

My goals for this year? Well, I don't usually have goals, just 'stuff I want to do', but this year it occurred to me that I could decorate my dining room windows for next yule, so that's a goal indeed, as there are more than a dozen. The plan is to create 'stained glass' frames to put over the windows. We shall see.
Other than that I shall finish the 'Bambara' shawl I'm currently knitting, and... well, I'm sure other knitting projects will step up and suggest themselves to me. I've been making good progress on using up the ancient stash in hats and twiddle muffs, and that will continue.
Also, I have a selection of knitting icons here if anyone is interested.

I do love the sound of your stained glass frames, I hope there will be pictures!
Good to have another knitter join us. I have a massive stash of yarn I'm hoping to put a dent in this year, making cosy sweaters but at the moment I'm knitting a lot of arm warmers, just simple ribbed tubes with a thumb hole. I wish I'd thought of this years ago, they're working out really well.
Good luck with finishing your shawl. Also thanks for the link to your knitting icons - I'll take a look once I've created your member tag.

Still, I wish you luck with your mashups. Where do you keep them all?
