Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I can imagine it was, but at least it is done and you can feel safer.
Yay for the rain indeed!

I am hoping for some rain on Monday - we need it badly. So many hot days!

The problem with the *** hedge
Is that it's wet and has to drip
So BK is always on edge
Trying to give the drips the slip!

It was a very hot day *and* I had to make an extensive food run because the fridge was almost empty. Not a good combination. I still got some minor crafting done: stitched 8 of the 10 shepherds together, so there are only 2 more to go, but that was all.

I'm sure the shepherds appreciate it!

Oh grocery shopping on the hottest day is unpleasant.

I went on a Dare to Dabble craft session this afternoon - painting like Jackson Pollock, highly entertaining. I'll do a post about it tomorrow.

That sounds like a lot of fun!

It was!

The technique is unconventional. And yes, it was fun!

I've worked on the baby blanket off and on. Fourth skein started.

A couple days ago we had a 5 second fire in the oven! Grease had spilled from a roast. I didn't notice. I started the oven preheating to bake bread the next day. The smoke detector started going off (huge amount of greasy smoke), I ran in and shut off the oven, glance through the oven window just in time to see the actual flame start. Put it out with the fire extinguisher. So that was a ton of cleaning up!

It's very hot here still. Lucy enjoys relaxing in front of the air conditioner.

Glad to hear the fire was contained and you got it out quickly. Not something you want to happen!

Lucy does look very relaxed :) The baby blanket is growing well - how many skeins do you expect to use?
Friday, July 22nd, 2022 08:35 pm (UTC)
I have five skeins. it's getting to the point that each round is taking a while.

The fire was on the bottom tray and since it was out so quickly even the oven is fine. Whew. We have ordered a new fire extinguisher that is baking soda based, so if this happens again there is less worry about toxic chemicals.

I was so wired the rest of the day from the adrenaline spike. Lucy was angry because I put her outside, and then was confined to my brother's room. I definitely did not need the help of a tiny dog to clean up the kitchen.

The kitchen is SO clean now too.

It's back down to 15C/60F here, grey and chilly and rainy, so I picked up the scarf again! Slow progress but still progress.

While the heat was rattling my brain I was considering knitting myself a tube top next but now that it's cold again I'm still considering. I might go for it, though! Why not.

You'll be prepared for next time. Or maybe you could also use it as a cowl. :D

The last cowl I made actually gave me the idea! I looked at it like, 'if I made this smaller it'd just be a tube top,' haha.

Glad you're able to get back to knitting - and all progress helps.
