Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Sounds like one of those old sci-fi films where menacing alien plants tried to take over the Earth. ;))

Haven't you always? *g*

I'm exhausted just reading about your endeavours to tame the garden - I don't know how you do it! I'm super impressed.

I actually love ivy and brambles but I understand that if they're growing where you don't want them, that's a nuisance.

I've finished another Big Fish(TM) and tacked on the mouths of the other six. Not much, but it is all very finicky work, so I consider it a success.

Actually, the three of them that I finished are singing deep sea chorals all the time. ;))
Wednesday, June 22nd, 2022 06:07 pm (UTC)
And enthusiastic ones, too! Mute fishy chorals are fun!

Oh, yes, very soothing. Not to mention the big, soulful eyes they're looking at one with!

Not a chance, really. *g*

I'm valiantly trying to resist their charm as I still have half the quiet book to finish during summer, but sometimes a bit of distraction is good. And they really look hilarious.
Wednesday, June 22nd, 2022 06:46 pm (UTC)
That is my nefarious plan, yes. ;)
Tuesday, June 21st, 2022 11:41 pm (UTC)
Well done - sometimes it is the small details that take the most time.
Wednesday, June 22nd, 2022 04:00 pm (UTC)
Yeah, they are monotonous and boring. Which is why I do them while watching the telly with half an eye.
Wednesday, June 22nd, 2022 01:19 pm (UTC)
Good progress!

Thanks, I'm not complaining,

My secret project has reached a point where I feel comfortable enough sharing it. Here it is:

A knitted doll of Windy Storm, one of my FFXIV characters

It's a knitted doll of one of my Final Fantasy XIV characters! See my icon for the character I was trying to recreate. The inspiration for her clothes is here: https://ffxiv.eorzeacollection.com/gearset/wayfarers

I still need to finish her boots and do her cape. I brought her to Stitch Club on Thursday and she was greatly admired and got a lot of hugs. I completely designed her myself. The tunic gave me some fits - box pleats are fiddly, and I had never done a bottom-up raglan before so that took some ripping as I figured it out.

I'm away from home now, and left Windy behind. Instead I'm back at work on my niece's graduation blanket. Only 23 rows left, I CAN DO IT!

She's coming along really well. Good luck on the graduation blanket - not far to go now.

Wow!!!!

Normally my dolls are 18" but I added some rounds to make her taller and give her more adult proportions, as her race in the game is very tall and muscular. So she's about 22", I think?

I also tried doing short rows on her front to give her a bust, but that only worked so-so. Still, I'm glad I tried it!

She's just super cute! Well done.
Annnd YOU'RE CLOSE TO FINISHING!! woo hoo!
Wednesday, June 22nd, 2022 04:02 pm (UTC)
Very cute! And that tunic is amazing - my childhood dolls would kill to have one like it.

I finally finished the outlining on the chapel - surprisingly difficult and intricate. I then picked up a partially crocheted sock and began working on that - managed to make it round the heel and do one round for the ankle. There's a few more rows and then the cuff - hopefully one or two evenings to finish this and then I'll start on its partner. (had to edit that as I typed partners and yeah just the one partner needed).

Hope to get the designs into cards and then I'll post a pic.

I did manage to get some very thin tape which should be okay for the cards but it’s too thin for the bigger cross-stitches that I’m trying to frame myself.

Sounds like you're making good progress on all your things! Socks are on my to do list! (but not any time soon)
Wednesday, June 22nd, 2022 04:03 pm (UTC)
I'm looking forward to the pics!

Not a huge amount done today. Some sewing around the edges of the reinforcing of the tent hooks. More to do but nearly finished. Slowly catching up with blog posts.
