Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

It's been a bit warmer today, although it hasn't warmed the house noticeably and more rain is on the way.

Done some writing, played a few more card games and found a couple more I like. I prefer something I have a chance at winning. Now I'm going to check my emails, then read fanfic for a bit.

I'll have to speed up, then. It has the TW3 team, the 4th season Primeval team, *plus* Mycroft Holmes, so I hope you'll enjoy it, once it's finished. I understand that you don't want to start on WIPs, it's always such a disappointment when they go on years-long hiatus (like mine tend to), but I'll see what I can do. ;))

I hope the writing went well and that you found some enjoyable fic to read 😁 I understand what you’re saying about winning - I get dispirited easily if I feel like I’m not even with a reasonable chance of success.

It did, I got quite a neat little ficlet written for a challenge and did some work on an older fic that I wasn't satisfied with. As for the fic, I finished reading a smutty fic I started a few days ago. =)

The Solitaire compendium gives a win rating in percentage form for each game, plus whether it's skill, luck, or both. I tried one that claimed a win rating of less than 1% and quickly abandoned it. Why play if it's almost impossible to win? That would just be frustrating.

No, no! Definitely a 1% chance of winning is not sufficient unless it's something that you can 'learn' to do better (as in a strategy type thing) but even then I don't think that's high enough to start with.

It was a 500 word limit so it was a quickish write, I just went slightly over and had to edit down, something I'm used to doing.

It's one of those games where it's the luck of the deal. If you get a good deal you might win, otherwise there's no chance.

I've made some nice progress with Janka's quiet book. Working on the deep sea page now. I've managed to make a really nice coral, with lots of appendages. I think it looks great, although I might be biased, of course. So great, indeed, that I've spontaneously changed the page design that would have contained a really big, fat fish. Now I find that it would be a shame to overshadow the artistic coral, so there will be various smaller sea creatures, while the fish, which I've already cut out, will be turned into a felt toy on its own. One has to be very flexible with this crafting stuff. *g*

Yay for progress and artistic coral! It's great when something turns out even better than you thought it would. I'm sure the fish toy will be cute too.

I HAVE FINISHED THE AFGHAN. Just this afternoon I finished a last round. I wove in the remaining ends.

This is a couple days ago, before the final row on the outside was done. I'll probably take some more photos when it is better weather and after I wash it.

Oh wow, that looks amazing! How big is it? I can;y imagine the amount of work that went into charting it, and then the hours of crochet... A true labour of love!

A bit more cross stitch while listening to an audio book, then lost some time reading election manifestos (we have an upcoming election and I am trying to make the ‘right choice’ - as in do I believe what they say, do I agree with a reasonable amount of what they say, are they going to stand any chance of delivering what they claim and what aren’t they saying! Seriously one of the manifestos it sounds more like the individual is running for chair of the PTA!), then played a bit of Letter Mystery. Might go to bed and read a bit of either my latest book or some fic… decisions decisions!

Working in the office tomorrow so hope to seek out some of the acid-free tape badly_knitted has suggested for the cards (thank you for the suggestions- I shall see how I get on and post pictures when I’ve had a go. Fingers crossed it doesn’t rain at lunchtime 🤞😉

Well done with cross stitch progress, and brave of you to plow through election manifestos. I think politicians tend to talk a good game, but I can't remember the last time one followed through on promises.

If you can't get in at the shops, the double sided tape is usually pretty easy to buy on ebay if you have access. I got my last lot off there, and it's available in different widths. It's fiddly to peel the backing off but you can sometimes get the easy peel kind where the backing is wider than the tape, providing an edge to get hold of.

I feel that in some cases ‘the proof of the pudding is in the eating’ and having seen some of the politicians in action in the previous term I have thoughts on whether they’ll get a vote this time or not but there are some unfamiliar faces too so a chance to mix the pot a little. We can always hope that one day we figure out the right mix 😉. What will be will be.

I’ll have a look in WHSmith tomorrow and in the other supplies shop in town, if that fails I can try to make it to the sort of craft supply shop out of town if I can get there before it closes (if not, there’s always Saturday morning ). I say sort of because it can’t quite decide whether it’s for school supplies or art supplies and if it’s art, it’s only bits of some, so a visit can be super successful or very disappointing depending on whether fortune is smiling on the visit *grin*

I bought my first double sided tape from WHSmith many years ago, but it wasn't acid free. I still used it, it's just not supposed to be all that good for fabric over an extended period of time, but would probably be okay for cards. None of the cards I made using it have come apart, but I still go for the acid free kind these days. I hope you manage to find something at one of the shops. It's incredibly useful stuff for making all kinds of cards.

At least it’s only every four years (or there abouts) and as I was told when I was first old enough to vote - if you don’t vote, you can’t complain when you aren’t happy with local government decisions 🤣 so I’ll vote because there is almost always something to complain about *grin*
