Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
Today's Question: No question today.
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Now I'm going to read fanfic and hope the weather warms up soon. I'm tired of being cold.

Here's my crafting update post for May. Spoiler: I didn't work on much - https://xnera.dreamwidth.org/1085630.html
Today I am working on a crocheted wrap top. I need advice from those who have made clothing. Here's a schematic I drew of what I think the back panel should look like:
The pattern that I am NOT following but that inspired me has the top end at the natural waist. Well, I doubt that will work for me - I have short shirts like that, and they all show off my belly. So I want to make the top longer, so it falls around mid-hip.
This is worked bottom up, so my idea for the back was:
1) Start with the widest point of my hips.
2) Work up to natural waist, decreasing gradually so at natural waist I end up with the stitch count that fits my waist measurement.
3) Work up to armscye, increasing gradually until I reach measurement of full bust.
4) Slip stitch X stitches for first armscye, and work a short row and turn with X stitches left, for second armscye.
5) Do the leaf insert rows.
6) Work straps.
The issue: I am fat, so have a muffin top. My natural waist curves in quite a bit from the muffin top/hips. I worry that if I decrease all the way for the natural waist measurement, the top won't fit correctly around my muffin top. So, I'm unsure what to do. Any advice?
I tried looking at schematics for free wrap tops (in both knitting and crochet). There's one from Drops, here: http://www.garnstudio.com/lang/us/pattern.php?id=4403&lang=us
That schematic is similar to mine, so maybe mine will work? All advice welcome and appreciated.

Unfortunately I can't offer any advice as my crochet skills only extend as far as granny squares and ears for meeces. Hopefully you'll be able to figure out something that will work for you and provide a comfortable fit. Good luck!
