Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today was forecast as 17C, sunny and dry, so I thought I might get out in the garden for a bit. Instead we've had overcast skies, several downpours, and blustery winds, so I've huddled at my computer all day, writing, and reading fanfic. The temperatures are set to drop to 12C on Sunday. Why did I let the fire out? Cold weather does not agree with me.

Hopefully it will brighten and warm again soon. Hope you manage to stay warm until it does.

It's set to get colder first. The next 2 weeks are not looking good, with a lot of rain and temps never getting above 17C, with the wind making it feel colder. I'll just dig out extra blankets and my hot water bottle, I think.

I can forget about sowing seeds this year though. It'll be July before I get the ground dug at this rate.

Oh yes, I have a lot of amazing fic to read in my main fandom, and what I read was really fun.

I've completed Abel's quiet book. Now I'll pick up work on Beni's, starting tomorrow.
I also made some more strawberry jam. It is so pretty I consider it now an art form. ;))

I was working on my Year of Stitch sampler, but I'm having a problem with the current stitch (raised stem band stitch) so it's off to the side until I can get that straightened out and I'm just filling in the background on my Schitt's Creek project until then. That one actually looks like it's getting somewhere!

That sounds like a very fiddly stitch, so I don't blame you for working on another project.

I hope you can master the tricky stitch. Have you looked for video tutorials on youtube? That might help. Glad to here your other project is progressing well!

I did more cross stitching last night - the tree trunk is beginning to look like a tree trunk rather than just a collection of stitches. I also did quite a bit of outlining around Winnie the Pooh and the bank so that area has all sprung to life - pleasing progress. Beginning to think about 'what next?'... no firm decisions yet but definitely lots to choose from.

You're doing great with the cross stitch!

That's why I love the outlining stage. Everything suddenly stops looking like splodges of colour and takes on form.

It's good to have choices, but hard to choose.

Finally decided I can spare enough to buy some wool for a scarf, because I think the start-up of buying all new tools as well as materials to try something new was just an unsurmountable mental wall, and every single colour I was considering is out of stock, because that's just how everything's going these days. I'll get a notification when they're back, at least, and for now I'm just burying myself in writing.

That's the problem with starting a new craft, knowing that you're going to do sufficient to justify the initial outlay. How frustrating about the wool colours, I hope they come in soon.

New crafts do requite a lot of new implements, but once you've got the tools of the trade you're pretty much set. I hope the wool comes back into stock soon.

Writing is a good way to pass the time. I write every day.
