No gardening today, it was too wet outside after last night's storm — one flash of lightning, one rumble of thunder, but plenty of rain.

No cross stitch either. Instead I was messing around with another old laptop, my oldest, from 2008. It works perfectly, battery charged easily, the keyboard is better than any newer laptop. Very old version of windows of course, so that was jarring. I was sorting through the files on it, clearing out stuff I have saved elsewhere. The main downside of it is that it's only 32 GB, so nowhere near enough room on it for all my music files. I could, however, maybe use it for my of computer games... Might see if I can load them on it. Chuzzles, and Zuma, and my old patience compendium...

Me too! It's so much fun, but seriously addictive.

We didn't seem to get any flashes of lightning but did get lots of thunder and very little rain - so I still had to water the plants at the front of the garden (and half the garage apparently as I had reattached the hose to the tap after lending it to a neighbour and it sent water everywhere with only a small amount going down the pipe!).

I'm glad you found a working laptop - isn't it strange to think that 32GB used to seem so much! If only these things lasted nowadays rather than having such a limited lifespan.

Reattaching hoses is so difficult. I never get it right. Water water everywhere...

It'll do for storing some files and playing games, but it's no good for my music files which need at least twice that much space. Ah well, at least it;'s something, but now I have a ton of files to sort through and duplicates to delete.

The next parts sound like something you need to have a chunk to do...can't just work on it for 15 minutes.

This morning I tried one tactic for drainage under the oak tree. I used a pointy hoe to dig a couple narrow furrows through a lumped up area to the street. Hopefully they can drain that way, not make a swampy area and drain onto the sidewalk. I also dug up the few tulips in that area that the squirrels didn't completely eat so I can replant them elsewhere.

I finished the center row of the border motif. Going to weave ends before I start the next row.

Fingers crossed the mini ditches work for draining. Well done on finishing the centre row and weaving in the ends - much better than leaving all ends to be done at the very end.

I sat and cross-stitched for a couple of hours yesterday while listening to a book before I went to the dentist - I got work done on the grass and the bank and also did some more of Eeyore's outlining. I had planned to do some more after dinner but got distracted first by my news feed and then by ... um... sleep! Hopefully I'll get more done tomorrow.
