Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
Today's Question: No question today.
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Yesterday I finally planted the daisy and marigold seeds down this first flower bed I'm making. When the city redid the sidewalks years ago, they left these little strips. Ours never seems to have had anything but weeds in it. It took a while to get it in planting shape. There's day lily and soapwort starts in here too. So it's done.

Yay for getting your sidewalk strip planted!
Have fun with your afghan! Making that in such hot temperatures would do me in. 93F is HOT! I'd be a melted puddle. Luckily it doesn't get that hot here!

Weather is so weird these days. April is usually showery here but this years it barely rained at all.

oops!
but it was still very lovely to hear from my friend and to see her little one in his cardigan, even if it took a while!

Becoming an Auntie was what got me knitting. I knew the basics and just threw myself into making baby clothes. That was 40+ years ago though. Sadly, these days no one seems to want the traditional baby clothes.

Maybe I should just do that: One Seam A Day

I measured the swatch. I wrote down that 19 stitches was 10.1 cm, and I'm like, drat, I needed that to be 17 stitches. I started swatching again on larger needles.
For some reason I re-measured the swatch. 19 stitches was *11.1* cm, not 10.1, which gives me 17.4 sts/4" on a target of 17.
I will take that.

With everything, it's a good idea to measure twice before doing anything else, just to be certain.

For the last two days I've actually managed to do a bit of work on the Winnie the Pooh cross stitch - it might only be a length or two of thread a day but every little counts.
I've also continued transferring my sewing threads onto cards and working out which colours/shades I have and which I need - it resulted in me placing an order for more thread for the Christmas card designs I'm hoping to do.

Well done on the garden progress and the re-potting. That's something I never seem to get around to. It's a miracle any of my houseplants are still alive >.<
Gradual progress on the cross stitch is better than none, which is what I keep telling myself when I don't seem to be getting anywhere on a tiny little design.
It's always the way that when you pick out designs to stitch, you don't have all the colours needed. At least you were able to order some.
