Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

I've finished the gentlebear pages.

Both bears and all honey pots are fastened with Velcro, so the boys can switch later if they decide they like the colours of the other one better. Alas, the colours don't really come through as they are. They are more pastel in RL.

Oh my gosh. I didn't know what a quiet book was so I've been flipping through the posts tagged with your username to get an idea, and this is such a wonderful idea and a gorgeous execution!

Awww, thanks! I fell in love with the idea a few years ago when I first encountered quiet books on the Internet. Of course, those ladies on YouTube do this with sewing machines and thus can do a much more exact and clean job, but I'm hopeless with these electronic sewing machines, so I do everything by hand.

Stayed in today and relaxed because it was supposed to be chilly out, although I don't think it really was. Anyway, I wanted to make decent progress on my cross stitch, and I sort of did, except that I'm still working on the outline of the border. There's quite a lot of border, more like a decorative frame, bordered on the outer and inner edges with a single line of cross stitch... Hard to describe accurately, it'll make more sense when I get around to taking photos.

Anyway, that's where I'm at. Lots of knots untangled, and I had to unpick bits a couple of times, but I made good progress. I think.

Very. I have to take my glasses off or use a magnifier, but it's still a strain.

It sounds very pretty - what colours are you using?

The edging is all mid purple. The squares at the corners will each be filled with a pink heart on a white background, and the rest of the border has scattered single stitches and pairs of stitches in, I think, three different colours, if I remember correctly.

Glad you can relax! Cross stitch has always seemed so complicated and impressive to me. Kudos to you for getting so much done!

Thanks, it's not too difficult as long as care is taken when counting. I've still got a very long way to go on this one, even though it's a small design.

I made another ice drop, this one a heart! It took, er...five hours, maybe? Not sure, but then I only watched one K-drama episode while I worked on it, so I could work a bit faster. The stone I used was a bit small for the pattern, and I definitely made some mistakes, but I like how it turned out, and the pattern was easier than I thought it would be. Unfortunately I under-wound the bobbin and had to pause and wind out more and join a new thread, but I think it turned out all right (only then I over-wound it on the next pass, so I need to do...something with the leftover thread).

That's so lovely! Tumbled semi-precious gemstones work work brilliantly in these, rose quartz, amethyst, citrine, things like that, unless you have to have a hole through the centre of the stone.

Estimating the right amount of thread sounds a bit tricky.

Thankfully the pattern gives the amount of thread to wind, but I counted wrong, and then was bad at estimating how much I'd already used and how much more I'd need...
