Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

I have finished cutting back the first buddleia, which involved a lot of sawing so now my arms are tired. I'm ambidextrous with a saw though, so at least I didn't have to do all the sawing with the same hand.

Then I came in for a rest and started the third of the set of small cross stitch designs. I'm stitching the border, but I seemed to spend more time untangling my thread and undoing knots in it than I did on the actual stitching. It's progress, just not as much as I'd hoped. Tomorrow is going to be considerably colder so I'm going to stay in and cross stitch, get back out in the garden on Monday when it's set to warm up again.

Thread can be positively devious. Mine always gets knotted right two or three stitches before the end. And stitching after all that sawing couldn't have been easy!

It always amazes me that thread can be perfectly straight on one stitch and develop an impossible tangle on the next one.

It wasn't too bad, but I dropped my needle a few times.

I missed what it was you are cross stitching - is it a border and picture in the middle?

Yes, although in these the borders are sort of part of the picure. There are three in the set - hot air balloons, which is stitched but I haven't done the back stitch yet, a yacht on the sea, which is completely finished as of yesterday, and the one I just started, which has flowers and a bee. The borders are more like frames for the pictures. I'm working on 18 hpi aida using one strand of thread so the finished pieces will be small enough for cards.

I'm impressed both by your ambidexterity (is that a word?) and by your determination and productivity - tackling buddleia and your cross-stitch is very impressive.

Thanks! Plus I spent the morning writing, which is an every day thing.

I'm mostly righthanded, but some things I can do with either hand. I'm glad sawing is one of them because it makes things much easier. If I can't get a good angle to cut a branch with my right hand, I just use my left. I needed the sit-down with the cross stitch after the sawing, lol!

I worked a bit on the mirror quiet books in the morning - but not as much as I hoped. I wanted to finish the bees and sew them on, thus completing both double pages... well, it didn't happen. I have sewn on the loops, and even completed two of the four bees, but the other two are still unfinished. Tomorrow it is.

Two bees plus loops is still progress, and it means you only have two bees left to do.

Yeah, I'm trying to see it that way. By this speed I'll be hard-pressed to finish the books on schedule, though.

I started a new thing (in no way have I finished any of the old things!) - a wedding present for a friend. She's getting married today and I'm sad to miss it so I wanted to participate in my heart or something.
