Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I've started sorting out all the spare threads from different cross stitch kits and putting them in some sort of order - there are more than I realised.

Like leftover yarn for armies of meeces right? ;)
Thursday, February 24th, 2022 10:24 pm (UTC)
So many leftovers (and never quite enough for what we'd like to make from them no doubt).
Thursday, February 24th, 2022 10:49 pm (UTC)
Oh quite. But useful if I run short with another kit.
Wednesday, February 23rd, 2022 10:00 pm (UTC)
oh, are you reaching the end of the meece cycle?
Thursday, February 24th, 2022 06:43 am (UTC)
Meeces meeces meeces!
Thursday, February 24th, 2022 10:23 pm (UTC)
Maybe you could wean yourself off the meece making by spending a little time doing cross stitching and a little time meece-making?

I've been suffering from severe weather whiplash. Weekly snows, a day or two of bizarre warmth, then super cold again. Is making my health stuff worse. It's also so cold I am making the dog wear a coat to go outside, she hates it.

On the craft side, I was going to make spring placemats. I kept starting a pattern, not liking it, frogging, repeat. So I set that aside and am making dishcloths.

Yeah, I have not even looked at any patterns in days to give myself a good break.

She would say she's not cute, she's a savage wolf! All eleven pounds (5kg) of her.

The dog is pretty in pink. Even if she hates it. :)

She pouts every single time. But she is doing much better in this cold snap than earlier this month when I wasn't bundling her up.

I'm so sorry the weather's such a nightmare. Your dog's little coat is precious, though!

The dog's coat looks nice and warm - even if she's not impressed.

The promised first pictures of the project with the somewhat undeserved name "The Thing of Beauty".

The front cover:

The inside of the front cover and [profile] elwenlj's beautiful booklet that will be incorporated into the baby book. There will be pics from the inside of the booklet with the marble effect later.

Page #1 with the ominous, lopsided window card. Inside, there's a simple white photo mat for a baby pic:

I really like the window frame!
Thursday, February 24th, 2022 04:41 pm (UTC)
The frame pattern is great. Just the cardstock wasn't suited for it, unfortunately.

Thanks. Certain parts definitely need to be redone, but all in all not bad, I think.
Thursday, February 24th, 2022 06:44 am (UTC)
It really is beautiful!
Thursday, February 24th, 2022 04:42 pm (UTC)
Thank you. :)

I think you are wrong - this definitely deserves the name of The Thing of Beauty! Not only does it look gorgeous, it exudes love and care and thought as well.
Friday, February 25th, 2022 04:43 pm (UTC)
That's very kind of you to say. It's indeed not too bad - it just isn't how I wanted it to be. Ah, well, we can't have everything, right?
