Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Recently, one of the craft bookshops I follow had an offer for a knitting book of 'free book, just pay postage', so not totally free, but in this case a decent sized book for a cheap price. 'Knit me, Dress me, Love me' it's called - knit a toy bear/dog/rabbit etc, plus make the clothes as well, with a great selection of clothes. The book arrived a few days ago, so I shall soon be knitting from it, because I know someone who will appreciate it :D

That sounds like an excellent deal - and an interesting book. I hope you enjoy whatever you make from it.

Thank you. There should be photos.

I've made the main photo mats for the original baby book, but I'm not happy with the outcome. I'll have to remove the sticker numbers and replace them with something less... garish. We'll see.

Let's hope so.

You've got time to try something else out.
Tuesday, January 25th, 2022 04:54 pm (UTC)
Oh, definitely! This is the original book that I'm planning to put away for the time someone with artistic sense is expecting a baby, so I'm not in any schedule.
Tuesday, January 25th, 2022 07:36 am (UTC)
I'm sure you'll find just the right thing.
Tuesday, January 25th, 2022 04:55 pm (UTC)
Oh, I assume I will. It's just annoying to unmake something you've already finished and hoped to have out of your hair.

I WON YARN CHICKEN!!!

Unfortunately in the process, my cake of wound yarn collapsed and got tangled, so I spent time last night and this afternoon untangling it. That means I didn't finish the base of the bag until about 45 minutes ago. I'm now about five rounds into the body. Still using the Cascade 220 until it runs out, it doesn't matter if I start the stripes mid-round.

I finished another jigsaw - I'll try to post a photo this evening.

The good thing about finishing the jigsaws is this is real decluttering because I'm currently doing ones that even though I'm enjoying them, I won't keep to do again - I'm saving those ones for later!

I need to make a decision about one on my shelf. It's by one of my favourite artists, Schim Schimmel and I think it's this one shown here which the more I think about it is just terrifyingly lacking in variety of colour etc to make assembling a challenge but not a frustrating impossibility!

Congratulations. And very satisfying!

I love his art - I had a few postcard pictures in my late teens/early twenties stuck on my wall when I was studying, but after I’d been working a few years I took a trip overseas and I was killing some time walking around the airport before my flight home, when I saw a bookshop and two of his books ‘Dear Children of the Earth: A Letter from Home’ and ‘Children of the Earth …Remember’ were on a display inside. I was amazed because I hadn’t seen anything in the intervening years so I bought both straightaway. Since then I’ve bought another couple of books by him as they came out. I’ve often looked at his website with a view to buying a picture for the wall but haven’t done it yet.

It is a beautiful picture, though, so well worth the effort, isn't it?

I might have to give it a try.
