Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

You are a meece-making fiend! Will you ever be able to stop? ;))

Sounds worrying. *g*

Wow, there's no stopping you.

Since a new baby is coming into the family, I've started the obligatory baby book. I'm keeping it fairly neutral, as we don't know yet whether it will be a boy or a girl - I can always add some small gender-specific decoration later, but I like to do the basic work in time, so that I can have a comfortable schedule. Baby is due in June or July, I think, so I'll have plenty of time.

That is very true. I'm also planning to make two felt quiet books for the soon-two-year-old sons of two young friends (soon being in September, but quiet books are a lot of work), so I suppose I'll be busy in the foreseeable future.

What I'm mostly wondering about is where to take the time for all those projects! *g*

Lovely news and a reason to make a wonderful gift with time to plan and prepare.

Having ample time is always a blessing.

I added a few rows to my scarf!

I've started doing some collage journaling.

I also did one cabinet for my miniature coffee shop and (with my son) put together one building in a paper Cornish village.

Thanks. My goal for the year is to complete the coffee shop. I will post a photo when the village is complete. It's 4-5 buildings.

Sounds like you're having fun with different projects. The Cornish village with your son sounds exciting.

Lots of different things going on. It will look cute when it's done. I was surprised how well he did with it. It helped him calm down, too.

It looks great! Are there any pictures of that miniature coffee shop? *And* of the Cornish village?
Thursday, January 6th, 2022 06:25 pm (UTC)
Thanks! Those photos will come when there's more to show. I just have one cabinet and one cottage (of coffeeshop & village) so maybe in a month or so, I'll have amassed enough that's photo-worthy.

I'll wait patiently then. :)

One row on my niece's blanket. The nice thing about crochet is that it will take a lot less rows to complete the blanket, so even doing just one a day is good progress! Though I should get considerably more done tomorrow - I'm bringing it to Stitch Club at the library.

I also did several rounds on the Christmas stocking. I'm using a 16" circular for it, which surprisingly was flexible enough to magic loop the toe. I just finished round 14, which gives me enough stitches that I don't have to pull loops out anymore. Yay!

Steady progress on your projects. Hope you enjoy your Stitch Club today.

It is always fun to have company when crafting. :)

Spent a bit of time on the jigsaw and also did a few rows on the sweater. I had to give up when I was making more mistakes than reasonable - I had to undo parts of the final row four times after getting to the end of the row and realising I'd got my stitches in the wrong order and taking it back and then making the same mistake again further along - I was too tired so gave up before going further.

It's a painting of 'New England Harbour' by Thomas Kinkade that I was bought for Christmas.

Arrrgh, that had to be annoying! *pats you comfortingly*
Friday, January 7th, 2022 07:55 am (UTC)
My own fault though - I knew I was too tired to keep going so I should have given up sooner. Still no great harm done and easier to undo that lots of projects.
