Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
Today's Question: No question today.
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I ordered kiln dried hardwood logs for the fire this morning and the man said he could deliver today, told me he'd be here in about an hour. That was a a little after 11. He arrived at 1.30, dumped the logs in my driveway, and then I had to move them all around the back of the house, stowing and stacking them by hand. Took me an hour and a half, and I hurt so much (still do) that I needed to relax, so I knitted meeces.

The poor meeces would have been flattened trying to move the heavy logs, although they might have managed some small bits.

I'm six rows into the blanket for my niece, and five rounds into my new Christmas stocking (I had to start over as I accidentally cast on one less stitch than needed and didn't catch it until about round 8).
Someone in the blanket K/CAL posted theirs which is made up of knitted images inspired by books, which made me remember the Final Fantasy blanket I was working on a few years back. So today I dug out the half finished square, looked for my chart and re-downloaded it again when I couldn't find the print out, and knit one row. It's a small square, only about six inches wide, but it's double knitted with more than two colors so it goes quite slow. Of course, using extra colors means a thick, warm square, but that sounds good to me because my legs get cold when I sit at my desk to play video games.
Squares for the Final Fantasy blanket completed so far are: black mage, white mage, thief, red mage, chocobo, and moogle. Current square is monk, and I've got knight charted to knit next. After that I'll probably do a tonberry. If you want to see the squares, some of them are posted to my Ao3 account at

Annoying about casting on the wrong number of stitches for the stocking though, hopefully you won't have any more problems with it.

I managed to crochet two hats for my mother (knitting them was just not going well >.<) and I have started on a baby afghan for a friend who is having a girl soon.
