Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

So you recover from work - with more work? You are amazingly efficient!

A change of pace from sewing to crochet sounds like the right choice to keep moving forward

We had our last big flat cleaning of the year (fortunately with help, but even so it was exhausting).

Then I put up the artificial monstrosity that serves as our Christmas tree and hung up all the lolly stick objects I had originally made for the Christmas charity fair that fell victim to Covid (again). The sparkly things look good enough; I'll post a photo as soon as the... "tree" is fully decorated.

Well done on getting your flat cleaned and your tree up.

Some things are inevitable, I'm afraid. *sigh*

I hope I can take some decent photos. Mum insisted on having the Christmas tree in the living room this year, where it gets a lot less light than on the balcony.

I finished three mini stockings (they each came out a different size/shape depending on the yarn I was using at the time - it’s all leftover bits) - but they have same number of sweets in. This is a picture of the finished one, I’m thinking of trying to get a couple more done :

Sweet filled mini stockings

I also made a couple of little bags that can be used as a facecloth but fit round a bar of nice soap (well they fit round normal soap too, but as gifts I picked slightly fancier bars) . They looked like this:

Soap in a scrubbie

Hope to make some more mini stockings, another pair of fingerless mittens and start on a sweater but have no idea where I will get the time for it all - not and getting to all the arranged appointments, getting house clean, repainting bathroom ceiling and other things I hope to get done while I’m off work!

Would anyone have any idea how to add hot glue to bottom of socks without it soaking through and sticking top and bottom of socks together? It’s been suggested for the pairs of slipper socks I’ve made to make them less slippy.

Those are lovely little gifts!

Thank you.

There's no way that everything crafting will be fitted in any time soon - it's more of an aspiration than anything else and as for all the house stuff etc... well it's a combination of aspiration and necessity - so it's not all going to get done either but I need to at least start because I'm getting so far behind on 'everything'.

I was worried about exactly the same thing with the glue and having made the socks, I don't want to end up ruining them at this stage. :( They'd be better off remaining a bit slippy!

Hmm, I haven't heard of using hot glue myself - I've more often heard of using puff paint. Here's a video about it:

The puffy paint looks like a great idea - I'll try and pop to the craft store today and see what they have as I've never heard of it before.

I finished the new expansion in my MMO on Friday, so I have slowly been getting into crafting again. Tonight the game is in maintenance so I have no excuse to do anything else. I've been knitting a simple cowl. I'm on the last color and estimate it will take about 45 minutes to finish. Just taking a small break right now.

I finished my snowflakes a few days ago, but they need to be blocked and starched still.

Finally, I picked up another Take & Make kit from the library. It was wooden bead snowmen ornaments, and I assembled them shortly after getting home.

I'll post pics of the ornaments and finished cowl tomorrow. Too late tonight to get good pics.

Sounds like you've been very productive. I look forward to seeing the photos.

I did enjoy the MMO, very much. When I played the expansion before this, I wrote a post in my journal asking if my emotions were broken because I heard so many people had cried at the end of that expansion, and I didn't. But with this current expansion? I spent THREE HOURS crying during the last zone because it was so emotional. It was extremely well done and I don't know how they're going to top this in the future.

Wooden bead snowmen sound like fun. :)
