Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

And that's four more meeces no longer in pieces! 4 left to do.

Had to go out today in search of a flu jab, so I did some shopping and popped in a few charity shops, where I discovered a three drawer plastic craft storage thingy. It was priced at £7.50, which was A LOT, but it wasn't empty so I peeked in the drawers and snapped it up. Didn't have a good look inside until I got home.

So, I've got a couple of pens and a notebook, tweezers, and a couple of things I couldn't identify, then there's a small pot of green powder that could be embossing power but it's labelled in Chinese or Japanese, so I'm not sure. Another small jar contains a gold liquid labelled Easy Marble... Any ideas? There's a pack of needles, another of lengths of thin wire, and a pack of push pins shaped like ducks. An unopened pack of 12 essential oils, and a pack of jewellery cleaning cloths.

Then there's what I splashed the cash for: two reels of brown leather necklace cord, two 10 metre packs of waxed cotton necklace cord in air-force blue and pale purple, a big reel of rainbow coloured necklace cord, must be at least 30 metres there, and 13 ready-made pendant cords with the fastenings already attached, most of which are black leather, with a couple that are cord. Quite a haul for the price!

Isn't it a good feeling to reach into something unknown and find gold? Figuratively speaking, of course...

Perhaps if you post a pic of the unidentified things someone will have an idea what they might be.

Wow, a real trove! Easy Marble is a paint you pour on top of a dish of water and then dip things. https://www.marabucreative-usa.com/our-products/easy-marble/ My cousins used to do it.

That is a brilliant haul! Well done! The Easy Marble stuff may be a craft paint for doing that faux marble decorating. I've seen it in books, but not sure what paint they used. Might be that? Oh hang on, just read comments. It's the paper marbling stuff. That is so much fun! You'll love it!

I did a godawful lot of baking today. But the cookies turned out well, so I'm content, even if quite tired. Tomorrow comes a tiny bit of decorating, and then I'll be taking a break from the baking and trying to write a bit. I owe a Christmas gift vignette for six different people and only two of them are already written.

My new set of buttons arrived today. They aren't quite as pretty as the little ones, but they will work perfectly well, so I'm happy.

I'm rather miffed at the non-arrival of a Christmas knitting kit I'd ordered. It was due out by the beginning of November, so I'd waited a bit to allow time for it to arrive but finally gave up today and phoned. There might be some coming out next week (there were none available today) so I could hang on and see, or I could have my money back. I opted for my money back - even if they do come out by the end of next week it won't leave much time to make the kit.

Well. at least you now have buttons that will work, even if the others were prettier.

How annoying! It's no fun to get something too late for you to do anything with it, so a refund was your best option, but very disappointing =(

Shame that the buttons aren’t as good as the earlier ones, and also about the non-arrival of the kit. That is disappointing for you.

That's super annoying about the Xmas kit. If they didn't have them in stock, the shop should have let you know. Good you got your money back, but sad you now have no kit.

I think it was a good choice. Even if they did come out, you'd have to do things hastily, and that takes the joy out of crafting.

I started work on my first penguin. The body is completed and I’ve made feet but not sewn them up and attached them, but it’s not bad for the evening. 🐧

I started crocheting a Link hat (from Legend of Zelda) for my brother-in-law. It should be a fairly quick pattern.

I managed to clean up and unpack a big pile this week. Items awaiting projects to be finished post-move were piled on and around the dining table. Then other stuff ended up dumped there. I'm not all the way done but I could sit and eat at the table today!

Welp. Two rows on the blanket. Should have been more, but I was in a very big DON'T WANNA mood today. I'm running out of time, on it and a lot of other stuff, but... DON'T WANNA. Sigh.

I also worked on a pair of fingerless crochet mitts during cutscenes while playing my MMO (I've seen the cutscenes many, many times before so didn't need to pay attention to them). I finished the first mitt a few months back, and am hoping to finish the second mitt this month for Nerdopolis' Area 51 challenge.

On the plus side, I had a lovely conversation with a friend tonight, plus some comments to my holiday_wishes post and now I have a bunch of new recipes to try in case I need to take over cooking. I do not like to cook, but... I live with my parents who are both aging and mom just can't deal with making dinner every night these days, so it might fall to me eventually.

I got a new Sofa-In-A-Box today which needed to be unpacked, unfolded, legs attached and put into place and the old one removed, so cutting up cardboard (saved some for the kitty) and making a couch is kinda craft, right? There was cardboard and scissors. The old couch is outside waiting to be disposed of. It was too hot to deal with. The removable arms, storage under the actual seat pads and turns-into-a-double-bed without the weight is a win. The kitty was pleased with the cardboard and has been crafting it with her murder mittens already.

Wooo, new sofa! Construction is definitely a craft, and it's great that kitty gets to join in with her own artistic talents.
