Hello! I am nagi_schwarz, but you can call me Nagi, which I have been known to answer to IRL.

I am a fairly crafty little person. My mother taught me needlepoint when I was about seven, but I haven't done it since I was about...eleven.

I learned how to crochet when I was twelve, but I haven't done in steadily in a few years because it hurts my wrists, and I've more or less given it up in favor of knitting, which I'm not all that expert at.

I also learned how to needle tat back in grad school, and about two years ago I learned how to shuttle tat since it looks a lot less threatening in public and on airplanes (among other things).

I learned how to do origami as a kid, but I don't really do it anymore except for specific projects (one time my mother asked me to writer her a children's book, and since I can't draw, I made origami figures and photographed them in lieu of illustrations).

Around the time I learned to tat I also learned how to do bobbin lace.

My main hobby is writing, and also I love watching Korean dramas (I rarely have time for them these days though) so naturally I am learning Korean (so I can knit and watch dramas at the same time).

Projects:

1. Tatted Dragon. This is close to being done. All I need to do is finish the wings and then block it. This was a test piece to see how the dragon is constructed and assess the difficulty of the pattern (it requires two shuttles and a couple of techniques I had to learn for the first time), but once it's done it can be used as a bookmark (if I add a tassel to the tail, maybe; I do have a tassel-maker...somewhere). It hasn't been that difficult, and I'd be willing to make more in specific colors for people down the road.

2. Basketweave knitted baby blanket. This is also close to being done (but then it has been for years, so that's not saying much). All I need to do is finish the main body of the pattern and add a border.

3. Bobbin lace medallion. I started a medallion piece as a final project in a class and never finish it, and I want to finish it before I forget how, but bobbin lace takes up a lot of space, and my toddler is in her running and exploring (and now climbing, egads) phase, and where bobbin lace projects are quite delicate and difficult to fix if disrupted (i.e. tipped over and dozens of bobbins tangled) I'm sort of hesitant to put this up anywhere.

I used to be a very prolific crafter, and these days I mostly...clean the house. Feed the baby. Sneak words in while baby sleeps. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. So. This is motivation to craft more. So thank you for having me!
