Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Not a very crafty day for me. I did fold some parts for more sparkly paper stars, though, so not entirely wasted, either.

I'm here, I survived Halloween! Just.

The rain stopped around noon so I was able to set up the table and all the lights, and the various treats (candy, knitted mice, bookmarks, pendants, Googly Bugs, glowsticks, and bubble wands). Got my first Trick or Treaters around 4.30, last one at around 8 when I went out to start bringing things in because the rain had returned.

It's been very windy out — I lost my witch's hat at one point and had to chase it, with my giant spider attached. A fellow witch lost her hat too.

I started with 30 goody bags of candy, had to make up another 10, and I have 4 left. It was a VERY busy night, lots of fun, the knitted mice were a big hit again, especially with one little girl who came back specifically to ask if I made them myself. She got an extra mouse for that ;)

Had lovely comments from a lot of people, parents and kids, so I feel I succeeded in my goal to do something that made people, kids especially, feel happy after everything they've endured over the last year and a half. Hopefully I made up a little for last year not being a great Halloween.

Taking everything down in drizzling rain and with the wind gusting strong enough to knock me off balance wasn't easy, especially once most of the lights were down and off. I could have done with an extra hand to hold my torch while I was untying things, but I managed in the end. I seem to have lost a battery-operated tealight though. Someone probably snuck off with it thinking they were on offer too. It doesn't matter, I've got lots of them,

Now I must dig out my mouse pattern and start making mice for next year... Just not tonight.

Well done, it sounds like it was fun - no one called here. I always get some candy in case but it’s very rare to have callers. One of my neighbours have children but don’t seem to celebrate Halloween and the next nearest children are further away and are surrounded by lots of people a lot closer.

Thanks! I live in an area where there always seem to be a lot of kids. I don't know where they all come from, lol! About the only time I interact with children is on Halloween. I love being a good witch, and seeing all the costumes.

Too true. I've got material for ten or so stars altogether, plus for another nine lolly stick snowflakes, but only a week left before the Advent baking frenzy starts. Plus, picowrimo will be in session in November, so I 'll be incredibly busy.

Hopefully. I did take a few photos of some of the older mice, it's just a compatibility issue between my camera and my mini laptop. Getting my old computer to start up in order to load the photos onto it, then downloading them onto a USB stick to transfer to this computer is a nightmare. It can take over an hour and several re-starts just to get the old laptop going.

It was a fun evening, but quite cold out because of the wind. I think everyone had a good time.

I finished my last two projects for Nerdopolis today! First, a papercraft flower. Here's the video I was following:

And mine, which I think came out more like a NAILED IT! than I had hoped, but hey, it counts for imaginary points. The challenge was "Spooktacular", and I said: "You know what's scary? Skeletons! They are bone white, just like my papercraft flower."



I also had started a woven coaster. I wanted it in Halloween colors. Well, I made the warp black, which was a mistake because it was very difficult to see the warp threads. I gave up and didn't finish it. Instead I whipped up a crocheted coaster just so I had something to turn in. The challenge was Area 51, which is for finished WIPs, or stuff made with stash yarn. This was a stashbuster, so counts.



I also knit two rows on the blanket. I may do more tonight, we'll see.

I’m at the nail biting stage with a couple of the colours as to whether I have enough to do the final areas. Each time I finish needing a colour it’s quite a relief!

The paper flower is wonderful, it looks very exotic, and the coaster is sweet. Yellow is my favourite colour.

Next time to the warp in the other colour and use the black for the weft. Black is hard to work with no matter what you're making. It's why I have two black sweaters languishing - I can't tell where I got to on the pattern.
