Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
Today's Question: No question today.
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I have heat, after weeks of wrapping myself in blankets during the day to keep warm, the fire is going, the radiators are hot, and the house is gradually warming through.
On the knitting front, I have done the second side of the neck shaping, and added 4 rows to the first side. I think that means I can join a shoulder seam and pick up for the neckband, but that can wait until tomorrow.

I've got three finished objects to share today:
PUMPKIN. PIE. AMIGURUMI. I love all things pumpkin, especially pie, so when Nerdopolis had a challenge relating to pumpkin spice I couldn't resist making this:
A woven coaster in two shades of pink, for the Nerdopolis "Color Theory" Challenge. Did you know all pinks are actually tints of red?
A hat, for the Nerdopolis challenge "I Wanna Be Like You", where we had to pick someone from our nerdery that we'd like to be like. I chose Zidane from Final Fantasy IX, who has such a kind heart. Zidane wears turquoise clothing so I knit a turquoise hat. The hat is only so-so. I love the texture on it, but even dropping way down in needle size and doing the child version, IT'S STILL TOO BIG FOR ME. Well, I could wear it as a slouchy hat, but yeeaaaaaaaaah, it doesn't fit how I like my hats to fit. I must do something about my gauge issues soon, because this is getting frustrating.

I've been hella hyperfocusing on crafting the past week. I've knitted a jellyfish that's become a cat toy and a mouse that was intentionally a cat toy.
And I've mostly finished sewing a shirt dress that I've been thinking about making for months. It took longer than necessary because after I'd finished the main construction save for the bottom hem, I realized that in sizing up the altered yoke that makes up the entire top third of the shirt and sleeves, I forgot to take into consideration how much that would widen the neck. If it had been another style dress I would've just said screw it and turned it into a boat neck, but it would've looked too weird. So I had to take the entire yoke off and re-cut it, which also meant seam ripping the arm cuffs and cutting a new one to re-attach when I ripped a giant hole in one, and taking off both very long button plackets because shrinking the neck hole means the front of the shirt dress starts higher which means I needed to move the button plackets up. At least I cut the hem deliberately long so it was okay to lose a few inches on the length.
But all of that and the hem are done, so now I'm just waiting on some notions so that I can make a simple belt, put on buttons, which will let me figure out where to place belt loops and how big they should be, which will let me figure out where to place pockets, and then it'll be done!

WOW! Such a cute little pie slice! The coater is awesome (and yes, I did know that). *grins*
It sucks that the hat is too big for you, but I have to admit I'm amused because I have an old turquoise sweater knitted in the same stitch and I just thought, SNAP! Your hat looks so much like my sweater has a relative, maybe a cousin...

I stand in awe! I can't sew clothes to save my life, and from the sound of it, you've made adaptations to the pattern you're using, which I find amazing. I hope the rest of the dress goes to plan after all the effort you've put into it!
