Introducing Your Host
Hello! *waves*
I’ve been trying to get this introduction post done and up for days, but life has a bad habit of getting in the way. Anyway, here I am at last.
I’m
![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Having the encouragement of fellow crafters has helped keep me focused over the last month or so, to the point that I have almost finished the first of my six (yes, really) unfinished projects, and I’ve made some progress on a couple of the others.
Project One: Drop-shouldered round neck cable and double moss stitch sweater in deep red DK.
I’d only done the rib and a few pattern rows of the back, but after a month of daily knitting I now just have the sleeve and side seams to sew up. Pictures will follow if I can take any that actually come out halfway decent. The colour is making that a bit difficult; the pattern doesn’t seem to show up, it’s just a red splodge.
Project Two: Sleeveless lacy round neck summer top in white DK.
This one I had the back almost finished. That’s now done and I’m working on the front.
Project Three: Another round neck red sweater with cables.
I have the front finished, but the neck shaping is too high for my tastes so I’ll have to unpick and re-do that before I continue. I have at lest found the pattern, which I’d managed to lose.
Project Four: Something in white DK with grey and black blobby bits in it. It’s in basic stocking stitch.
I have no idea what pattern I was using for this, so I’ll just have to make it up as I go. I think the back is mostly done now except for shoulder shaping. I’ve decided it will be drop shouldered again for ease with the blobby yarn, and probably v-necked. I’ve started the front but I’ll have to figure out the neck shaping.
Project Five: Round neck sweater with cables and lace in black DK.
I have most of the front done on this one, just got to do the other side of the neck shaping once I can figure out what pattern row I’m on.
Project Six: Very lacy round neck in black DK.
This is the one I’d done the most on before it got abandoned. The back and front are done, and part of one sleeve, but between the complicated lace pattern and the sleeve shaping, I don’t have a clue what pattern row I’m on. This one’s going to take some figuring out, and better light than there is at this time of year. I’ll probably leave both the black sweaters until spring.
Other Crafts
Aside from knitting, I enjoy cross-stitch, macramé, a bit of simple jewellery making, card making, and I sometimes make small felt toys and other novelties. My latest creation was some Halloween Googly Bugs. Pics are HERE.
Other Hobbies
I enjoy reading, mostly SF and Fantasy, writing fanfic, gardening, collecting crystals, and playing with my action figures.
So, that’s enough about me. How about posting to introduce yourselves and your current projects? We’d love to get to know a bit about you!

I've promoted this on my journal now.

Getting new communities off the ground isn't easy, and in the middle of NaNo probably wasn't the best time, but I didn't think of that at the time.
Check-ins I'm thinking of starting tomorrow, or is that too soon? I want to get things moving along, try and get people talking and crafting and talking about crafting...
Thank you for the promo, much appreciated!

The community is available on LJ as well, but there are a lot more people here so if you're after more socialising dreamwidth is your best bet. Feel free to make your own introduction post if you'd like to, just to tell everyone a little about yourself and what crafts you enjoy.
I'm hoping to start the check-in posts tomorrow where you can comment to let everyone know how you're getting on with your current project/s. With luck that will get everyone talking to each other.

It's lovely having you here and I hope you're going to have fun, meet lots of interesting people, and get tempted by new ideas! We have one member who plans to build a canoe! This is going to be a fascinating place once folks start posting pics of their projects!

The general consensus is that LJ itself is pretty much dead. :-/ And you and I seem to be the only one who even post to beattheblackdog, anymore, apart from m_findlow's challenge posts.
