Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Finished another kerchief, this one in simple HDC with a picot edging.

A crocheted kerchief with a picot border.

Now I am working on a shawl which I hope to finish by midnight tomorrow so I can post it in the Ravellenics. They end tomorrow at midnight, local time.

Lovely and good luck with getting the shawl finished in time.

Actually done - finished another square of crochet and a bit of the next.

Then spent some time sorting yarn and trying to find out what I've got so I can think a bit further ahead as to what I'm doing with the blanket. My original thought was to make two of each type of colour combination (e.g. maroon inside pink outside x2 and then 2 pink inside with maroon outside). That could be made into bigger squares of four with the two colour schemes diagonally - based on current estimate small squares are about 23 cm, so approximately 50 cm for a bigger square by the time I join small squares and then put a border around each. I'm aiming to use up left overs, so it's all a bit varied. I'm thinking 2 of the bigger squares wide would be in the region of 1 metre and maybe 3 long to make 1.5m with a finishing border around the whole lot. I'm not sure I actually reached a conclusion before beginning to wonder if I should just do random squares and not try to make a pattern although that would probably need more squares because I wouldn't be able to border them in sets of four.

I think it became overwhelming because I found another blanket that I'd started work on a while ago (about 5 years ago maybe?), then came across another two unfinished cross-stitch patterns and a box with 11 more unstarted cross stitch patterns (there was a time when people were buying me them as presents but I was in a job where time to craft was absolutely minimal and I also bought a couple either with a prospective baby in mind or to go with something else that I'd done). Also got sidetracked looking at patterns - was given a lot of knitting patterns for toys and socks - neither of which I've done (well I have made some simple baby toys but not dolls) and I was trying to decide whether I ever could. No conclusion was reached.

I moved some bits around, moved the crochet supplies for the immediate future up to where I'm doing most of my crafting and then did some more cross-stitch to relax. Sticking with the Mickey Mouse project even though I found the other two unfinished ones. Hopefully if I get chance to do some more tomorrow, I might actually have a progress report where I can say and I finished xx in the picture (except for the outlining).

There's no need to rush. You can pick up unfinished stuff, one piece a time and work on them one after another. That's what I do with my writing. *g*
