Welcome to get_knitted, the crafting community for anyone who enjoys making things, and talking to others about crafts, crafting, and being crafty! Here you can share your joys and woes, celebrate your successes, ask for advice if you run into difficulties, and keep track of your progress.

Starting in a couple of weeks there will be more or less daily check-in posts where you can report in on how you’re doing with your current project or projects. I’m sure some of us will be working on several things at once.

However, just because there are daily posts does NOT mean you have to check in every day. Do so whenever you feel like it, whether you have any progress to report or not. That can be every day, once a week, once a month, when you happen to remember… Whatever works for you is fine; this is supposed to be a relaxed community, so when the mood strikes, just leave a comment on the latest check-in post.

Every member will get their own member tag, which I’ll add to check-in posts so you’ll be able to find your own progress reports if you should need to.

Participation isn’t restricted to check-ins. Make posts of your own. Share pictures of your projects, in progress or completed, make an introduction post to tell everyone a bit about yourself, give away or swap unwanted items from your stash, ask for crafting advice. In short, have fun!

And if you have any questions or suggestions, head for the Questions and Suggestions Post. That’s also the place to leave a message if you’d like to host the check-ins for a week, right here on the community.

Come on in and make yourselves at home. I’m looking forward to hearing about everyone’s projects!

If anyone can help with making some community icons, including a couple of get_knitted mod icons, I would be very grateful.

Hi! Here via thesmallhobbit. I'm mostly a painter, but I dabble in crafts. At the moment I'm trying not to start anything new because I am (I hope!) about to move house, but once I've done that I have a couple of projects that I think fit under crafts because I'm not sure what else they are:-D

1) New House has much less garden than Old House, it's basically just a big open parking space. My three cats are used to having hidy-holes and trees to climb, so I'm going to make them a sort of treehouse thing with decking boards.

2) Going to build myself a canoe. This actually is a stitching project, cos I want to do it from a kit, like this : https://www.stanleysmallcraft.co/product-page/peasemarsh-10-plywood-kits-from Bit scared of it, butit's something I've always wanted to try!

Welcome aboard, and WOW! Those are quite some projects! I'm going to add a woodwork craft tag to cover those I think, it'll be fascinating to see your progress once you get started. Art is also totally included if you want to share your paintings. I can't draw to save my life but I do love to see other people's work.

(I'm new here. I have a book but I do a huge amount of medieval crafting, so I'm quite keen on crafts. I don't knit. There's an irony for you!)

Well, this is for all crafts, people just seemed to like the name get_knitted *grins* Welcome, I hope you'll consider posting some pics of your crafting here, and perhaps explain what medieval crafting entails. Sounds intriguing!

Oooh, icons! We do have some already, but I'd love a specific Mod icon, perhaps some colourful yarn or threads of some kind as a background with get_knitted Mod written on it? I have Mod icons for my other communities which I use for my modly posts, so it would be lovely to have one for here as well.

I think regular icon size is 100 x 100 pixels, so if you can manage that it would be great, thank you. I'll PM my email to you.

I did a few rows of my knit shawl. The first section in blue is now done. Now I need to set up & start the section with stripes. I'm using a light tan as the stripe color. I wound the tan yarn yesterday.

I pulled out more yarn and made a scrapbook page for the hat I finished yesterday. Come to think of it, I also cast on for another hat in the same vein.
