Check-In Post June 12th 2021

Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I'm behind in my reading again, but I have been crafting! Today I pinned a veil and a wimple and have almost finished sewing the veil, which is a semi-circle of gauzy linen. I hemmed a silk veil and wimple for my friend though it was already hemmed on three sides and I only needed to finish of 2 x sides. I fixed another guy from our medieval group's hood (which he spent a lot of money on and it doesn't fit him) and to make up for his disappointment at spending so much money at a recommended retailer, I'm going to make it prettier by cutting daggues into it. Daggues are the decorative shapes which dangle around the edge. This poor guy has bought almost an entire outfit from a certain vendor and almost all his stuff has been substandard and needed substantial fixing. And he paid good money for it. Anyway, going to fix his new hood and make it pretty.

I've still got a lot of sewing to do before the deadline.

You are a godsend for the others in your group. Whatever would they do with out you? :)

Getting anything "quality" is so hard these days. Lucky they've got you on hand to pimp things up.
Those who can make things are at a definite advantage over buying things off the internet. Or at least buying them and then improving on them.
We had a masquerade party one year and I made my own based on a picture of one I saw online - all silver and black, feathers and French lace. It retailed at $180! I made it out of craft supplies for about $20, including the plush panne lining on the inside and woven ribbon handle. I still have it and wish I had another function I could use it at!

I second that. Please, share the view. :)

I will try and dig it out for a picture on the weekend!
