Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question:
No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

You are amazingly efficient. All I did today was buying even more craft paper. ;D

I did two rows on my graduation afghan today. Here's a recent picture of it. I like this pattern because the reverse side looks good, too. Different from the right side, but still good.

Graduation Afghan May 2021 progress

My library has been giving away FREE Take & Make kits for several months now. I picked up the latest one today. It's an embroidery kit! I've never really done embroidery but it should be fun. Not sure if I'll get to it this month or not, but at least I have it now.

You are a knitting machine!

That's a great library! Embroidery is a heap of fun, even if I don't get time to do any.

I managed to sew down one side of the surcote gore (this is the wool one, not the shiny, silk one) but I'm starting to stress that it won't be finished in time because I've offered to help a bunch of other people pattern their hose (think long medieval socks) which will lose me a whole weekend day of sewing and the festival is looming closer and I haven't finished the silk thing either.

I had a real disaster last night when I waterproofed the Selfie Station (an enormous oversized copy of the cover of my book with a hole for the face so people can literally be the face of the woman on my book) and the waterproofing solution ran and bled through and dried patchy. It's looking not so bad today, but it's not terribly good either.

Here's what the Selfie Station looks like: (this is just a part of it) https://scontent.fbne6-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.6435-9/87181044_2925328880864439_3238576830638194688_n.jpg?_nc_cat=101&ccb=1-3&_nc_sid=9267fe&_nc_ohc=r0IqhyzC0tsAX9J9YDg&_nc_ht=scontent.fbne6-1.fna&oh=c0a7eb08b5d5c047b20b3192bccaccd0&oe=60DF9538

It's going to its first public outing in 4 weeks time if the lockdowns don't reach our state before then. The idea is that people put their faces through (I have hospital grade disinfectant wipes etc) and I use their own phone to photograph them and they become the face of my book! It's all a bit of fun.

This is a hilarious project! I'm certain it will be a roaring success.
What kind of festival is that? Some sort of medieval fair?

My fingers are crossed!

Yes! The Abbey Medieval Festival is the 2nd biggest in Australia. Its the major fundraiser for the museum there, and Ive been a part of it as a vol, performer, organiser, lecturer and reenactor for a really long time! Its very close to my heart. There will be more craft posts related to it in the next few weeks as it gets closer!

Hand crafting is more satisfying. I almost never machine sew anything.
