Check-In Post November 23rd 2020

Hello, lovely crafters! Welcome to our daily check-in post, where you can tell everybody all about your most recent progress (or lack thereof). Feel free to also chat with other members and generally enjoy yourself!

Check-in is not compulsory, you decide if and when to take part in these posts.

And for an optional question, what about:
What time of the day do you usually work on your crafty projects?

If you have questions or suggestions about the community, requests for tags, or want to host the daily check-in posts, head over to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment there.

Answer: I am definitely a nights-and-weekend person but the light is so much better in the morning. Alas!

1. I am still working on my Christmas gift cross stitch. And I learned over the weekend how to do French knots! Not as difficult as I was expecting. [See strawberries in the top right corner]

2. I used watercolor crayons to make 10 Christmas cards for the Holiday Cheer event organized by the Multi-Fandom Postcard Exchange.

My tiny one met a great dane once. She didn't know what that thing was, wouldn't look at or respond to him in any way. He was very disappointed.

> I'm a subconscious bopper

mood I’m physically incapable of sitting still! I end up mostly crocheting in my rocking chair so I can hold still by being aggressively in motion.

Cute frog and ladybug!

I wish I could draw or whatever well enough to make cards that way. I especially like the blue tree against the moon, very effective!

Undoing stuff in tatting is so hard I never bother. I just cut and start again lol. Unless I’m so far in that it’s a big deal. I’m close enough to the beginning that cutting and starting again wouldn’t be a big deal really.

Well, that's something at least. I still hope you don't need to start over though.

Thank you! I've since added a lily pad & pond and a bunch of dodgy looking raspberries. I think I'll add a butterfly and call it a gift!

Thank you, thank you!

It was a bit difficult to decide what to do that was seasonal but not Christmas per se AND something that I could pull off with my limited artistic skill. I was happy with the mug and chocolate box and tree motifs and repeated them.

I don't think my stick figures would been as effective. ;)

YOU WOULD THINK. Unfortunately I tried to make it too big and got lost in the monotony. Also I have now moved and have a different password on a different network anyway, so perhaps it's just as well.

I do pretty with the drawing, but the sewing... well, let's just say my grandmotherly ancestors are either rolling over in their graves or laughing, or possibly both. Either is justified.

Hello, and thank you. I will take your well wishes with me into the abyss that is YouTube sewing tutorials.

OH BOY do I have good news for you: cross-stitched shitposts are EVERYWHERE. Start here: https://shitpostsampler.tumblr.com/

I am sorry in advance for the rabbit hole down which you are about to plummet.

My mum was great at sewing but clearly the talent was not passed down. As for drawing, stick figure are about my limit.

On Amazon Prime, I've been watching Star Trek-the Original Series (I love all ST series honestly) and realizing just how far ahead of its time it was. I've also been rewatching Stargate SG-1 which is my true fandom love!

On Youtube, I'm addicted to Good Mythical Morning and all their spin offs (like Mythical Kitchen) and also Cozy Robot Show and I enjoy watching Charlotte Dobre's vids. There are others I watch too but those the ones that I tend to knit to. Oh and I just finished watching Star Trek Continues on Youtube which was amazing.

Yay for Star Trek and Stargate SG-1, some of my favourite shows too. I'm re-watching Deep Space 9 right now because tv is helpfully showing an episode a day Monday to Friday. Already re-watched Next Generation.

Oh I love the sheer madness of trying to cross stitch a QR code. You're like my evil genius hero! Ha ha.

I'm very much a first thing in the morning person, especially for writing, but crafting is known to come about late at night as well. It's the middle of the day when I'm flat on all creative fronts.
I can happily craft in silence but if I'm stitching I usually put something on that I've watched a million times because I'm not actually watching it. My go to movie is You've got mail. Honestly I've seen that film about a hundred times. I've even been known to watch it twice in one stitching sitting! Rewatching The West Wing atm when I can find time. A pity real US politics don't take a leaf out of their book.
