Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I've finished the leafy part of the tree in my cross stitch.

Yesterday I got one Mother's Day craft gift made by my older son which is...one of those only a mother could love. He tried. The younger son refused to do his kit at all so now I have an extra craft kit for me to do at some point (it's a mini mosaic with tiles and cement and a frame). And today I was in a drug store and saw a face painting kit, which I picked up to put in my 'keep the kids busy' bag for summer. It looked fun.

Congrats on knitting and cross stitch. Last week was our rain week, it's been nice today.

I've received a number of those throughout the years. He did try. One year I received a message which said 'I bought some flowers. Here's a photo of them.'

I shall have to take a picture!

I'm doing small repairs today. There's a sweater I knitted years ago for my father in law, which I'd be sorry to see go to a charity shop now that he's dead, but the sleeves are a little short for my brother in law. So I'm undoing the cuff a bit and extending the cuff. Of course, back in the days when I did my Kaffe Fassett knitting, I knitted pieces and sewed them together, which I had forgotten! But the first cuff is done and looking good.

You're always so busy!

I'm impressed that anyone can undo and alter knitted things. I thought once they were done, that's it!

I had a really early night last night (in bed by 6.30pm) and today I have a cold, so I'm playing catch up on journals and getting things ready for work tomorrow (International Nurse's Day) but mostly I'm really looking forward to my sister visiting in a few days time. She went through a phase of doing those drop rocks which you paint up and leave for random strangers to find. I have a heap of Simon's Cat ones and a Sailor Moon one she painted me.

I'll have to take some photos. Essentially, they're just paintings on stones. I like the idea of the craft, that kids learn to make something pretty for an unknown person to find. There's no money or gushing thanks. It's just to brighten a stranger's day. There are rock groups where you can log the finds. You can either keep the rocks you find or rehide them. A lot of people just take them on trips away and rehide them in different towns, a bit like the traveling geocaches.

This is their fb group, I'll see if I can find any of hers.

Ha, ha! Yeah, this one will be stored for about 6 months and then mysteriously disappear. I just don't keep stuff I don't find appealing. It's too bad he picked the bee (instead of the flower) because that was the more interesting one. And, you know, the cement was sort of tough for him to deal with. But I only get things I might actually like. Minisculus made me a self-portrait (of himself), which is fine. He has an interesting drawing style. But he didn't want any part of the mini mosaic making so that's that.

They can be fun!

I suppose. But, yes, the extra kit will be good for a rainy day.

Interesting! Very cool that you're recycling and altering instead of binning it.
