Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: What is your favourite thing to make?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I took out the elephant plushie again. It has now both ears and both eyes and I'm working on its accessoires in the hope to finish it during the weekend. Or not. We'll see.

Did a bunch of Australian publisher things yesterday and more semi-precious stone beads arrived so I can get onto making those in the near future. Lots to wrangle and glad it's the weekend.

Elephant plushie sounds pretty cute! I'll have to scroll back and find your first bits about it. I'm a bit behind still.

ok, my success today is I managed to take a full day off from crafting yesterday XD

but also I made more progress on my curtain swatch today! it is. stupidly big for a gauge swatch, but doing a full chart square is the best way to make sure I get the math right

close to half done tho! and the thread in the actual color I'm using doesn't get here 'till thursday anyway lol

also since it's filet crochet and I have a chart that's exactly the same width as the proper chart (height's a bit more awkward, but it'll still work), I think Imma add some mirrored dragons to the actual curtains >.>

everything is better with dragons

We think we broke a record at fiber group. We crammed 11 people into the quiet reading room today! Our illustrious leader has returned. The regular who brought her fiance's younger siblings last week did bring the younger one who wanted to learn how to crochet back this week. She made much progress for being like 3 years old. The woman who brought 3 kids a couple weeks ago and asked me to teach her to knit was back this week. This time with only 2 kids. She has temporarily given up on knitting because her work from before completely unraveled when she dropped a stitch, so she was teaching the younger of the two kids she brought how to crochet granny squares, and taught one of our regulars too, while she was at it. The other kid she had with her asked me to if I would teach her how to knit. She grasped casting on pretty quickly and she technically understood who to make a knit stitch, like the stich on the needle is a knit stitch, but I couldn't get her to stop holding the needles parallel to each other with the points facing the ceiling. We'll see how she does come next week. I told her she needed to get knitting stitches down pat before I'd show her how to pearl.

We did have one completely new person and she happened to be a knitter. It looks like I won't be the only one anymore, maybe. She trying to get a shoulder wrap done by November as a gift and she's using very fine linen blend yarn.

Also, the staff member that leads pur group brought in a bag of her old knitting needles for me to rummage through and taken what I wanted. I ended up with a pair of size 19s, 7s, 10 1/2s, 11s, and a large package of double ended size 1 needles (all US sizes). And a weird knitting needle crochet hook combo I have never seen before. I need to make her a thank you note.

So my 2 rows on the cable blanket were my crafting for the day XD

I also barely resisted getting more yarn and markers after work today. Sharpie has a new line of markers that are not paint markers, but are supposed to look like it when you use them and I am intrigued. And they had a set of rainbow pastel ones right next to the yarn.

A friend of mine and I also made plans to make plans to have a few crafting parties. Things we are discussing doing: stuffed animal taxidermy, lighter decorating, faux icing in some capacity, and turning the covers of damaged paperbacks into wall art.

Sometimes, you just have to make a stupid bug swatch.

Everything is totally better with dragons.
