Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question (courtesy of [personal profile] cora): What was your last project that got put into "time out" and why?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I did various small (but time-consuming and frustrating) tasks in preparation for the fair.

A detailed (and illustrated) report about my activities can be read here. I don't want to copy and paste the whole thing and clutter up this space, but everyone is welcome to take a look. :))

Well, the trickiest part still needs to be done, but I'm hopeful... ;)

4 more rows for a total of 58 done on the blanket!

Fingers crossed that is simply cloudy. Of course the stupid cold is lingering!

Glad that the candies you do not like can become part of the fair!

People have given me special chocolates a couple times recently and I also thought them too sweet.

Excellent steady progress.

Continued cold and rainy weather. First frost expected tonight, so I cut some peppers that are still green off the plant.

Worked a bit on the trivet, though it was mostly a project day. I've picked out some tasks for rainy days.

Way to go! Blanket rows are no joke.

Glad you were able to rescue some peppers. And kudos to you for planning ahead for rainy days.

Husband had to have an emergency appendectomy, so while I was at home fretting (he went into the ER late at night after the kiddos were in bed and I had to stay home with them) I scrolled Instagram like you do and found an origami tutorial and decided to try it out, since I have a terrible amount of origami paper and also leftover chrysanthemum knot tassels.

Turns out I did learn how to make these years ago, mostly as a fun way to send money as a gift, and once I got started I remembered how, but I had fun picking out the colors and may well use the method again to send my niece some money for Christmas now that she's past the age of wanting actual gifts.

They're really not!

Hope all is well with your husband. That sounds very scary.

He is home safe and sound and now just restless with recovery. Thank you!

Thank you! It was very fun and quick to make, and now I want to make more, but whatever shall I do with more...

Thank you kindly for the voice of confidence! :)

If I had anyone to take them I'd have given them away. But I don't want to waste anything (especially such expensive stuff), so I had to come up with an idea to put them to good use.
Thursday, October 30th, 2025 06:52 pm (UTC)
I love the gnome, too. :)
Thursday, October 30th, 2025 06:53 pm (UTC)
With so many tasks at hand as you have them you really need to be organized. Well done!

Gosh, that must have been frightening!

Great that you've found a way to use up some of your stash. You have to make room for more supplies, after all. *g*
