Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question (courtesy of [personal profile] cora): What was your last project that got put into "time out" and why?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Mosaic Cardi is back in timeout. My oh-so-clever "fix" was not so clever and didn't work as well as I had hoped. I'm going to have to rip back at least somewhat. I haven't figured out yet how much I need to frog because I'm still a bit bummed this happened.

Stitch club today! We had a new person who’s rather new to crochet. She knew about the club for a while but was hesitant to come because she thought it’d just be everyone sitting around working on their own projects. We quickly informed her that no, we LOVE to help others out! So me and another member diagnosed her current blanket and got her back on track with the pattern, and she was SO thankful. I hope she comes again, she seemed very cool!

Also, a fellow participant was destashing ACTUAL WOOL and I scored a skein of Malabrigo. Now I get to look at patterns and decide what to make with it!

Finally: I'm midway through a crocheted water bottle carrier that has an attached phone pocket. This became a necessity because I spent some Amazon gift card balance on a pair of earbuds, meaning I can now listen to my own music at the gym. But carrying a water bottle + phone + towel + spray bottle + keys on a lanyard is a bit much, so making the carrier to make it easier on me. I should be able to finish it today, and if not, definitely tomorrow.

No crafting the last few days but I did buy a bookcase to paint and have had to change a bunch of stuff on my website which is taking ages. Trying to do a house tidy for rent inspection too.

Kudos to you for making progress!

It looks lovely!

Sorry the cardi had to go back to time out! Hopefully time away from it will help.

Also a water bottle carrier with a phone pocket sounds GENIUS and I love it. Also yay for scoring some fancy yarn!

That bookcase project sounds really cool. Way to go you! Good luck on the inspection.

I sent a tatted hanky edging project to timeout months ago on account of the pattern just being too frustrating and I haven't picked it up since, and the time has passed when I might have felt more urgency to complete it. Maybe next year for a birthday gift.

Managed to work on my circle shawl a bit while I watched YouTube tutorials about how to use an abacus to do maths (research for a fic), so that's good, but now that supplies for Halloween costume accessories have come in the mail, I need to get working on those.

No crafting today. The yarn situation has all knitting on hold. I was able to buy some googly eyes in assorted sized for my pumpkin and some cheap markers to replace dying set I use for coloring books.

I also got the massive outside DW October art challenges list posted on my journal. It's not pretty, but it took me over 3 hours to type out on the phone I'm using.

Sorry the cardi fix didn't work out.

I hope your new person comes to stitch club again :D

Congrats on the new yarn.

The water bottle carrier with attached phone pocket sounds like a brilliant idea.

Thanks. I think I've got a yarn solution, but I haven't enacted it yet. Unfortunately, it's like all our stores skipped Halloween and went straight into Christmas.

It is. It's just kinda what I got to do right now. Normally, something that big, I talk-to-text to get the bulk of it typed, then edit it and it goes faster, but that wasn't an option for that post.

Thanks

Yes! Especially places that don't put Halloween out until October.

Chocolate eyeballs are vital.

I was disappointed by the extreme lack of sour gummy bats this year.

I found one small bag at the Dollar Tree, which I suspect was leftover stock from last year, and that was it for the whole season anywhere. Not even in the trick or treat candy size anywhere.

Yes, this is true.
