Check-In Post - June 19th 2025

Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: We all probably have multiple WiPs, but which of yours has been hanging around longest, waiting to be finished?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Firstly, take a look at my spicy apple jam:

That, unfortunately, ended up as a jar of jelly babies. I was worried that it might remain too liquid and have overdone the gelatine. But they have a fantastic flavour, and kids love fruit gums anyway, so I'll sell them as such, I think. *g*

Also, I made 16 more cellophane bags. 48 are done, 16 more to go, and then I can move on to filling the lavender sachets. I'm trying to get done as much as I can well in advance.

Mom was in the hospital for a few days, so this week has been all messed up. I did do a bit of crochet on the cardi while visiting her at the hospital, but otherwise didn't touch my crafts because I was too exhausted from stress. She came home yesterday and is recovering, so we're slowly getting back to normal...

Today was Stitch Club. I wasn't going to go because of mom, but she insisted, so I did.
One of my college friends showed up! I haven't seen her since, frak, maybe her wedding? SO good to see her again! I worked on the capybara while there but only managed one motif, partially because of all the chatting distracting me, but mostly because the yarn is a PITA -- it's Yarn Bee's Yarntopia and it's SUPER slippery and thus the skein fell apart and I had to spend some time untangling it. It's been balled now, so I should be okay from here on out, but that wasn't fun.

This afternoon I decided to work on Alphi. I had started a tunic for him, but decided I hated it, but instead of ripping it out right away, I put it on waste yarn so I could reclaim the needles for an attempt at a different piece of his clothing. That attempt was his pants, which I was going to do with fingering weight cotton that FINALLY arrived from Hobbii (never ordering from them again; the yarn is fine but the shipping took longer than I'd like) but I think the cotton will look too stringy, so I am making an attempt with worsted weight acrylic. I didn't get far though before I got fed up (black yarn! never fun to work with) so now I am just refreshing websites before dinner.

I have this pretty second-hand shirt... that lacked a bottom hem. My mom kindly did it with her sewing machine, saying it'd be better than letting me do it by hand. But, she accidentally sewn the flap slightly folded over itself. So I had to carefully take a few stitches out and redo them anyway.
Also, I had to get back up yesteday evening to take a scratchy label out of my pants. (How did I even manage before I had my seam-ripper??)

Managed to get more crocheting done by sheer dint of leaving my project bag out and grabbing it whenever I could. Final ten rounds here we go!

Also the pressed flowers came out pretty! https://www.instagram.com/p/DLEL9MyMH2d/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=Njg4cXJ0N3Z5OTh6

I just have to figure out what to do with them…
