Check-In Post - May 25th 2025

Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: We all probably have multiple WiPs, but which of yours has been hanging around longest, waiting to be finished?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I measured the mantle scarf after finishing the first skein, to find the leading edge is 68" long (I worked it diagonal). It needs to be 71". So...I'm nearly done. I had no idea I was so close. Also I will only use the tiniest bit of skein 2.

The togekiss has one (1) complete wing sewn on

Badly, perhaps, more in location than technique, but it's on!

Yay! It being on is what counts. Also I feel you. Generally my sewing technique is fine but my placement always seems iffy...

It is done! Meaning the little decorative stripes for all 12 mini sewing kits. They aren't spectacular, but they are nice enough; now I can start putting the kits together. Another item out of my hair - yay!

Assembly line would have been a better way for me to write that.

Wow! Twelve! That's so many! I think people will love them. They sound super cute to me and I haven't even seen them yet.

Folded another little origami thank you letter, and also did a row and a bit on the six star blanket. Have checked out some exercises for my wrist and am trying to be diligent about doing them. Haven't had a chance to try out the hand massage but that sounds really nice. My wrist doesn't hurt while I'm crocheting, so I'm guessing that crocheting isn't the problem...

Perhaps your wrist considers crocheting exercise, too?

Entered one of my quilts in for the city quilt show yesterday.

Otherwise, I haven't done any sewing for two weeks.

The scarf is almost done! I'm at the point where I'm tinking what I did at the very first and reknitting it in symmetry. Should be done by tomorrow of the day after?

I used to loom knit all the time but I hadn't done it in a few years and I saw someone on Mastodon talking about it, so I thought I would pick out a pattern and go back to it. The pattern called for non-loopy cast-on and I was having a hard time winding it loose enough that I could pull the ladders over the skipped pegs but not have the whole thing go springing off. I also kept having to frog it and start over because of needing to make pattern adjustments. Last night as I started over for the FOURTH time, I wound it too tight. So what I should have done is stopped and just started over again with a looser wrap but I didn't want to start over for a FIFTH time so I just kept going even as it got tighter and tighter and lo, I messed up my shoulder and forearm so now I am going to have to ice them all day 😤 This is going to drive me back to the needles smdh
