Check-In Post - March 17th 2025

Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: Do you remember the first thing you made in school?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Finally finished the first blanket chart, which completes the bottom border, and did the first two rows on the next chart. This is the smallest of the seven charts, with only 22 rows and fewer complex repeats, so I'm hoping it'll go fast and balance out my slow start.

Here's a pic of what the completed bottom border looks like on both sides:

One simple egg basket - we had cleaning day. *is dead*

Basket count: 4 out of 24. I really hope my friend brings me a bag of toilet rolls tomorrow; we won't be able to produce nearly enough between just the two of us. And I'll have to start painting the styrofoam eggs. *And* the Easter baking. Where to find the time for all this, I wonder.

I've not done any crafting today, but I have made some posts with photos of the recently finished projects - for those who wish to look they are here:

Diamond art cards and scratch art pictures

Crochet hat and socks

Latch hook rug and landscape painting kit

I contemplated doing some of the new crochet project but wasn't quite in the frame of mind. This morning I felt like doing some writing which I haven't done in ages, but wasn't sure what to work on so just got sorted and ready to go out. By the time I got back later this afternoon, I was feeling a bit under the weather.

I'm not sure whether to try and do a bit of the pattern now or just give up for the day.

sad Althea is sad: no more knitting class, EVER. they cancelled it due to lack of interest. :( I'm grateful I had the opportunity and that they gave it a try, but bummed because I really did enjoy it (plus it was a little extra cash coming in!)

I did some work on the legwarmer today, and I'm close to finishing it (only four more rounds and bind off left!) but my hands are hurting, so I gave up for now. Might crochet some. Or just sit around feeling sorry for myself.

Managed a single iteration on the hanky edging, which was slow going because I had to refill the bobbin and tie in the old threads as I added the new ones, but now that's done and I can continue at a regular pace and also have a sense of how many pattern iterations I can do before I need to refill the bobbin again. I shall pick this project up...in a couple of days. Maybe. Once baby and I are home from hospital. See you on the flip side!

Saturday was the rock painting event. Overall it was fun, despite my nerves about going to an out of town event I didn't know much about with newish friends. I ended up painting 6 rocks. I have no idea what they are going to do with the rocks. It was a charity event for the cancer infusion center.

Sunday, I got things ready for Lynne's. It involved gluing together and drawing the centers on 24 tiny paper flowers, on top of the normal stuff. I am also now having to label my belongings I bring over there.

Today Lynne was in a fairly good mood. We made simple St. Patrick's Day cards, that had a lot of drawing little details on with a gold pen (like adding dots or coloring in the space left by the decorative punch) and no one complained. After that, I was able to finish prepping the sample card and prep work for next week's card and design and prep for the week after.

I was going to knit while we watched the last Hobbit movie with dinner, but I got too engrossed in the movie and forgot.
