Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: Do you remember the first thing you made in school?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Sorry about the weather spoiling your plans but at least you managed some knitting ev3n if not as much as you hoped.

I have done a bit more painting and some more work on the socks. I’m going to have to undo the first sock and redo it. I’ve been playing chicken with end of the ball of yarn and then have made up the second sock smaller so now need to undo the first and redo it to match size wise and then hopefully I’ll be able to finish a matching pair. The yarn I’m using is coming up much looser fitting than the first pair so I’m not worried about making the smaller size.

Today I started working on the folding books, since I realized that one of them is due in May, and even without the binding part, they're going to be a lot of work. In the end I chose to make two semi-identical Hello Kitty! books, basically because, as mentioned previously, I already had the templates to those. Besides, they will be more or less doll house books, just with a kitty instead of a doll living in them.

When I make (mostly) identical books - so far it only happened twice before - I go page by page, making the same page twice. I decided to start with the bedroom pages; cut out the carpet, the bed parts, the window parts and the view to the garden that will be visible behind the window frame. I did cheat a bit with the latter; I've found one sheet of patterned felt that had small squares of flower bushes or bouquets or whatnot, so I cut out two of those and they'll be the view from the window. I still have to cut out the bedside table, the curtain, the fish bowl and probably the wall clock, but those are the smaller details. I'm glad that at least I've got the basic concept of the bedroom now.

Oh, and I've found another great idea what to do with toilet rolls:

Gah, what an unpleasant weather. I wouldn't want to leave the house, either.

It is still annoying that you'll have to undo half your work. *commiserates*

The vid says ten rolls for one basket. I think they’d look even better if painted pale yellow, green or brown.

Made progress on the blanket I was absolutely, definitely finishing last week, and then decided to put a border on; am now on row four (of six) of the border.

Sorry about the weather frustration. But yay for progress on your sleeves! Online jigsaw sounds fun!

Sorry about having to undo so much work, but kudos to you for making the sizes work! Yay for more painting!

Those folding books sound awesome! I've never heard of dollhouse books, but those sound really cool! And I don't think there's any cheating with a project like this, just being efficient and smart about construction! I am excited to see how they turn out.

That new toilet roll basket looks much more complicated, but I bet you can pull it off!

I am sure the border will be lovely! Way to go!

Managed a few rows on the sweater scarf while the kiddos did karaoke and danced along with ballet videos, and that was nice and relaxing while my blessed mum did the dishes after supper. T-6 days till baby arrives, and loads of progress has been made on getting things ready, which leaves less time for crafting, but maybe I can stitch that book tonight after all...

Basically, they are your regular interactive quiet books, just folded and not bound. I'm not planning to make many of the more complicated baskets; most likely just one or two, and only when the simple ones are all done. So far, I've got 3 out of 24, and even those have to be painted yet.

Whoa, you are doing a great many things, and that 6 days before the baby arrives!

It is getting there, but oh, this is one of those processes where it just isn't fun, and I can't really point at why!

It will be lovely when it is done, but in this case I'm very much being a product rather than a process person, and usually I'm the other way around.
