Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: If you're making any, what are your crafting resolutions for 2025?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I did some crafting again: sew together the body of the second rag doll. Now I have the basics of two bodies and one head. I'll work on them as fast or as slowly as the fancy catches me; it's so nice not to have a deadline for a project! Still, knowing myself I'll press on as much as I can. I'm one of those "let's do this quickly, so that we can do something else afterwards" kind of persons. *g*

Wow, you are on the roll!

I've just joined the third skein of yarn to the basket (this one is going fast).

Not really a resolution, but I'd very much like to:
-do more thread projects
-use up the felting wool on trivets

Yes, though since there's no deadline you can always hop to a different project and back too. :)

TV is really helping you get knitting done recently.

That's why I miss having a TV in my room. Well, I do have one, but Vodafone stopped the analog programmes, and my 30-year-old telly can't deal with the digital stuff. I so miss having it running in the background while crafting, solving crossword puzzles or even writing. :(

What kind of thread projects would you like to do?
Monday, December 30th, 2024 10:47 pm (UTC)
IKR? Next to all the housework and caring for Mum leaves very little time for the things I'd like to do.

I'm seriously considering buying a new TV, if I can get hold on that reliable service guy we always call for such things. I need someone who can tell me what kind of TV to buy and to attach it professionally to all the peripherials so that it would actually work, both on its own and with the video/DVD player.

Oooh, thread projects! I've made some doilies and snowflakes, and just finished a 3D poinsettia for my mom in crochet cotton thread. Fun stuff! Good luck with yours, and well done for the progress on the basket!

After doing ALL the crafting the past few weeks, I find myself lost and confused because I don't have to craft now but I don't know what else to do with myself.

I broke out the yarn for the Motion Picture Mosaic Cardi that I plan to do in January, and started a swatch for it but didn't get far.

Then this afternoon, I browsed patterns for a DK something-or-other as I had snagged two skeins of pretty yarn from Stitch Club. I settled on Villemo:

Should have just enough yarn for it. I'm not sure what kind of fiber the yarn is, but from how tightly spun it is (it feels like string) I'm guessing cotton? so might not make a good scarf/shawl, but eh, I'll give it a try anyway. Didn't get far in THAT, either. TBH, I'm still recuperating from the lack of sleep I had Saturday night. I spent a lot of time this morning sitting in a blob and going "bwuh?" as I slowly woke up.

Rag dolls really are lovely!

Trivets are very handy, and felted ones sound good!

I actually like stuff knitted in cotton. 😊

Ignoring the pile of tidying up in the spare room but NYE plans for tonight are movies and sewing a ton of buttons onto the sleeves of a kirtle; one of the jobs I've been procrastinating on for a while.

Oh, nice going!

Well, things have finally settled down enough that I'm actually starting a new project. I started a scarf for one of my aunts today -- had to undo the couple of rows I got, but it was so nice just to sit down and do some crafting :D.

It's not a resolution, but I'm really hoping I can actually craft more regularly next year. This year was full of health problems and house/life issues, so I hardly did any at all. So, knocking on wood!

:D Well, sounds like today was some nice, casual crafting.

Oh, thread projects always sound like fun :D

Eh, the last scarf I crocheted was cotton -- the recipient was allergic to wool -- and it turned out pretty nicely :)

Oh, those sound like lovely NYE plans :D

Hit row 78 on the blanket, which completes the first half - now a repeat and the other border edge!

Glad things settled down enough for you to get some crafting done! May your 2025 be filled with good health and calmness.

Oh, I like cotton too, I just wasn't sure how well it would hold a block. Also, cotton can be a bit difficult to work with due to its lack of springy-ness. But it's soft and lovely.

I've made some lovely things out of cotton myself! I'm just not sure how well it will hold a block, and I think this pattern could benefit from a hard block. But we will see.

Sewing on buttons is hard work. Good luck with it!
