Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Another early post because I'll be watching TV later.


I haven't done anything today except some writing, and untangling my yarn, but I hope to knit later while I have the TV on, maybe finish knitting my pair of purple arm warmers. I really don't know where today has gone.

I've started another rag doll today, this time making sure it will be a girl one. The reason behind it is that my friend likes to sing a particular song to her grandchildren, one featuring a tiny little girl with a tiny little doll, and it's that doll I'm trying to make. The boy doll will find his home eventually, too. There are a great many families with small children around me, both friends and family, I could make dolls for years and not run out of recipients.

I really don't know where today has gone.

I feel like I've had a lot of "tidying" days recently too.

It is unseasonably warm (57F/14C). I did a couple sessions of working outside. Unfortunately too damp to work on mulching leaves, but I did a lot of work on the future asparagus bed.

Days just feel so short in winter. At least in spring and summer they feel a bit longer.

That was quite the marathon! You may not have managed as much as you were hoping to, but you did amazingly well to complete as much as you did, so he proud of that.

Ooh, nice weather! We have 121C forecast for tomorrow, then a sharp drop to about 3C and snow forecast early in the new year.

25 rows and one ball of yarn into my blanket and I already feel like I'm playing yarn chicken lol

the calculator says I should have plenty of black to add in 20 extra rows, but my emotions say "but what if the calculator is wrong????

(I'd love to toss in 40 extra rows, but that feels way too much like tempting fate... although it's possible Cascade has reliable enough colors that a dye lot change wouldn't be visible even if I do lose yarn chicken)

Fear of running out of yarn is very real. I've found it really difficult to judge how much yarn I have left and how many rows I can get out of it. When I think there's not enough, it lasts forever, and when I think I have enough for another row, it runs out halfway. I think it does it on purpose, yarn gremlins or something.

Good luck, hope you find you have plenty. At least with black I doubt a dye lot change would be visible.

I know I can get 24 rows and change out of one ball, and if I was purely doing stripes I'd have plenty, however I am doing some mosaic crochet color-work which makes it so very much harder to judge x_x

I can only imagine! I'm not good at colour work myself, takes me forever. Hope it works out!

Every time I'm worried about it, I have plenty. When I am not thinking about it at all, then I don't have enough yarn.

It looks like it will be back to freezing next weekend. I am a little worried about it being so warm, even though it makes it easier for me to do work.

The weather all over the world is becoming increasingly erratic, which is definitely cause for concern.
