Check-In Post - December 27th 2024
Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
This Week's Question: No question today.
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

So what did I do? I go back to this afghan I was working on that I was using row counters and a whole Method™ to ensure that I'd know what I was doing when I went back to it, since I last worked on it in September. And of course I didn't understand what any of the cryptic notes I left for myself meant. I did finally figure out what row I was on (after starting it one way and seeing after a few stitches that that was messing the pattern up *facepalm*), so I'm good to go as long as I don't leave it and forget what I'm doing again. So clearly the answer is to just not stop until the afghan is done. Lol. We'll see how long that lasts. XD

The afghan sounds like a big project. Glad to hear you eventually managed to figure out where you'd got to. I have a sweater that I haven't worked on in years because I couldn't work out where I was on the first sleeve. Doesn't help that it's black and very lacy. One day I might have another try on it, or I might start the sleeve again.
Good luck with completing your afghan.

In October I made several little ghost amigurumi with witch hats on them. Then in November, my friend wanted me to make a stuffed animal for her daughter, that took about a month. By the time I was done with that my hands were hurting and I said I didn't want to crochet anymore. So of course I turned around and made four little cat amigurumi to give as gifts, and a polar bear for décor. Now I am REALLY done with crochet for a while, haha!

I've tried knitting ghosts but they haven't really worked out. I like making stuff to give away to the kids at Halloween, so I need to re-stock the knitted pumpkins as I ran out this year, but I still really want to make some ghosts.

The pattern for the ghosts was a freebie on Ribblr this year. This was actually the first pattern I made from Ribblr!

The sampler is also amazing! I can do cross stitch, but not embroidery, I have a tendency to pull the thread too tight, so I always have the greatest admiration for anyone who can do such beautiful work.

Haha, I have been there with cryptic notes to self, albeit with studying not with crafts. But yeah, that is very frustrating! Happy to hear you did figure out which row you were on. Not stopping till the afghan is done is a great plan but also hard to execute. Hope it works out well for you, am already looking forward to your updates. :D
