Check-In Post - December 1st 2024

Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: What's on your holiday wish list this year?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

November crafting update in my journal, here: https://althea-valara.dreamwidth.org/1216553.html - nutshell: I had a productive month and am pleased with everything I managed to accomplish.

I've got a jump start on this month already, and have already worked two hours on the Santa stockings, and intend to do more. I need to finish at least one stocking myself. I did have the front of one done but decided I didn't like it, so started over recently. I'm putting the finishing touches on that new front today, and hope to finish that much at least. Then finish the back tomorrow.

Other things I want to finish this month:
* Four more mini stockings for the kidlets
* Three wall hangings for mom and sisters
* Mom's poinsettia that I started last year

uh, yeah, that's a LOT. Will try my best!

What's on your holiday wish list this year?

I've had a Schacht Cricket Loom 15" on my Amazon wish list since August 2018. I doubt anyone will get it for me, but I live in hope. More likely is Victorian Housecats to Knit by Sara Elizabeth Kellner, one of my favorite designers. I've made a bunch of her toys, including the Parlor Cat which is printed in the book.

I already bought a present for myself, from me: I got a brand new gaming computer. I did need a new computer as my old one was starting to fail, but I'm still reeling from the purchase even though it was a very +affordable+ gaming computer. Other things on my wishlist are all peripherals for it like a microphone & capture card, so I can better my Twitch stream.

okay have had a 45 minute computer break, it's back to the stockings I go!

54 rows done on the blanket!

I'm just hoping for a relaxing and restorative Dionysia with my partners. I'm excited to just be at home with them with no pressing work responsibilities.

I did some decorating today, which included making an extra star for the porch decorations (only 5 rounds). Probably will work on dish scrubbies this evening. It's the last thing I need for the wedding box.

On my holiday wishlist: a weatherproof grill cover. I just have a tarp for it now with a bungee cord and that looks messy. Also the tarp is way too big.

Mostly culinary crafting today - I baked 4 different sorts of cookies for Christmas again. But there was a bit of paper work as well. Our chiropodist lady is coming tomorrow, and we always exchange small gifts with her around Christmas. So I took the cardboard box of Mum's new alarm clock and decorated it in a fitting manner (pic coming up tomorrow). I'll fill it with cookies and add a little angel figurine.

Today was busy. I added to the art book until the 8 pages on one side seemed "done." (It's an accordion style book.) I prepped my bag for going to Lynne's to make cards tomorrow. I also managed to knit 2 rows on the wingspan shawl. That was probably my favorite part of the day because I got to get cozy with my shoulder wrap heating pad while I knitted.

Also, in case anyone was wondering, I forgot to mention it last time, but the feral cat that lives in our garage that was missing has come back and has been enjoying his new cardboard cave at least once a day since then.
