Check-In Post - November 18th 2024

Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: No question this week.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I did some minor crafting today: I've decorated another emptied hand creme pot to turn it into a gift box for small gifts and made a mini pencil holder. This one isn't very spectacular, but it's decorated with some lace my Grandma made back in the early 1970s, so it has historic value. *g*

Otherwise, I was still occupied with cookie decorating and cookie boxing, which ate up all my free time but was absolutely worth the time and the effort.

I found the start of the crochet arm warmers, and decided that I wasn't enjoying the project, and frogged it. That ball of yarn will go back in the stash (it is a lovely stiff cotton / bamboo yarn and wasn't really suitable, I just like the colour). Instead, I've started doing some knitted ones, and I've done cast on and six rows. It's quite a thick yarn, and while my knitting is a bit uneven, it is a good opportunity for practicing rib stitch, which I don't often do. It is a large ball of yarn I've picked to use up (some kind of 'super saver' option, possibly 200g) so if this works as something I can get done in a reasonable amount of time, then I'll probably make more. I suspect that at least some of the household will want to steal them.

I also picked up a small applique project from buy nothing, and am going to have a poke at that.

And! I went into the sewing room, and pottered around. I haven't achieved 'do something' but I did pull out some fabric scraps that are allocated to a specific project, and started thinking about how to make progress on that.

Lynne cancelled card making today, which I kind of expected when I found out her daughter was in town to go over documents, but her daughter was able to fill me in on the Thanksgiving plans so I know when to check on the cats.

While watching Poirot, I knitted 2 more rows on the wingspan shawl and 15 more rows on the eclectic cable scarf.
