Check-In Post - October 18th 2024
Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
This Week's Question: Have you ever made something and then had no idea what to do with it?
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I'm back to sorting craft materials. But this is to make progress on the now 5 years late b'day quilt for Eldest, because I knew where the completed pieces were, but not necessarily where the necessary materials are. Today, I went through a small box of scraps (with assistance), and now I have piles of based on which project they will be useful. I've started the faff of ironing and making decisions about which bits are useful, as well as clearing out the shelf that some other bits had been dropped on, and grouping them. Pretty sure I know where I'm at for the next section, and I know where the templates are and where the pattern book is. So, here's to maybe getting a block a week done, which will have all the blocks done by the end of the year, and then maybe, just maybe, I'll have it assembled and ready to quilt in January.
Yesterday, I spent some time poking at craft books, trying to work out what it is that I want to do in a repair/revitalise project -- a tablecloth with a couple of 2cm cuts. Which is why I was going through the box in the first place! I have ideas, and I'm going to have to copy some patterns onto tracing paper, and then decide where I want them. I think that I'm going to do between three and five of the options, but simplify by dropping the shapes that are only there to make the blocks square.
I think there was something else as well, but I've forgotten.
