Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

It's been pouring with rain all day long, so no chance to scrub down any of the fire parts, just been doing my best to stay warm. Did a bit of work on the sweater, counting and measuring for sleeve placement (drop-shouldered sweater, so no armhole shaping), then started sewing the first sleeve on. I always start at the shoulder seam and the centre of the sleeve top, and work downwards. It wasn't terribly successful. My first seam was too tight, no give in it at all, but I left that while I attached the other half of the sleeve, only I miscounted somehow and ran out of sweater edge before I ran out of sleeve. So I unpicked that, re-did it and got it right, then unpicked the first side. I'll try that again tomorrow, if I have time.


Also knitted another 20 rows on the arm warmer.

I did a bit of crafting in the morning - still struggling with that paper embroidery pattern I'd managed to complicate unnecessarily, but making some modest progress - some minor writing afterwards and not much else. I had a bad night, not enough sleep and therefore no energy.

Haven't been on DW in a while but I'm back!

Kinda suffering from WIP overload, trying to focus on a tote bag so I can load up another project into it to bring around everywhere and become a playing with string in front of people weirdo-in-the-best-sense-of-the-word.

Ooof, I know that feeling, most of us probably do. I don't even try to count my WiPs these days, it's... scary!

Good luck with the tote bag, that sounds like a sensible project to focus on, having something attractive to carry a project around in is handy. People need to get used to seeing others crafting whenever and wherever. Who knows, you might inspire someone.

Yesterday I got the quilting on the lap quilt to 2/3, finishing the second pass. I let it sit, so I could decide whether or not to actually do the third pass; I've decided that yes, it needs it, and maybe a fourth as well. Did 7/20 of the third pass, might do a bit more later.

Oh, good thought, I should take one in the morning. I finished the quilting after dinner, and decided that I wouldn't trim to size at that hour of the day!

Now I have to find where I put the fabric that is to be the binding.

Progress is on hold for the moment though, due to injury.

Inspiring someone would be great! Sometimes I think about taking my spindle to Panda and spinning there after lunch, and if people get curious they can get a chopstick and try it out.

I learned on improvised spindles made out of a pencil or chopstick pushed through an eraser or clay lump, and with the cat brushes as my fiber source, so it'd also be a bit of nostalgia.

Makes the process more approachable, I feel.

You could teach classes in improvised spinning!
