Check-In Post - September 15th 2024

Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: What piece of advice would you give someone interested in trying your favourite craft?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I've set the embroidered card aside, not having the nerves to figure out how the pine tree branch might actually work, and made another little tree gnome instead, as well as sewing together the little shirts of the last three ones. I've also worked a bit on the (hopefully) last chapter of my current fic and typed up a few pages of the previous one. Not bad for a rainy day, I'd say.

Thanks to everyone who helped with my cardigan yarn questions in the earlier post. I finally put in the orders today and may have gone a little crazy >.< Now can't wait for the yarn to come in so I can start in on the first sample to figure out how many stitches I need. Exciting!

Otherwise, no crafting today. Spent much of the day decluttering and reorganising for the upcoming semester.

Once again I'm really behind with posts, and just did a post dump on my page with some stuff half written. (sorry). I've torn the second knee now, so things are a bit slow. I have started making a set of little green buttons which were needed for a dress ages ago, so there's that!

It's my birthday today (yay!) AND the first day of [community profile] communal_creators which means I actually did some crafting today, because what else are you going to do on your birthday other than things you enjoy? I spent 50 minutes knitting on the second fingerless mitt redo. Just about an inch to go, might finish it tonight.

This Week's Question: What piece of advice would you give someone interested in trying your favourite craft?

I posted about my knitting classes on the book of faces, and a friend of my mom's said she wished she still lived in our area, she would take the class. So I told her if she's really interested in learning to knit, I can recommend KnittingHelp.com - they were very helpful when I was learning myself.
