Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: What piece of advice would you give someone interested in trying your favourite craft?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Which episode was it?

Frosty, the snowman, aka Christmas card #28. I'm quite content with this one:

The next card promises to be a tad complicated again, so I was happy with this quick and easy one.

B5 was an interesting show. There were parts I absolutely love, others... not so much. But it was definitely worth watching. I have the whole thing on video.

It's very cute! I love the hat.

Last night I tinked back the 2 rows I messed up in my sock & knit them correctly.

No knitting today but I got some chores done this morning. I made some chicken stock & cooked some dried chickpeas for dinner later.

I'm more of a Trekkie, but I've written B5 fanfic, too; short pieces, mostly. Then there's the ungodly long, still unfinished Kansas series, which is a B5/ST Voyager crossover... I'm currently on Part II. which is planned out for 53 chapters, and I'm still just in the middle. But at least Part I is finished. One should count one's small blessings.

Thanks. I like this pattern, too, one finds the best ones on Pinterest.

Well, he has his hat, his broom and lots of snow... what else would a snowman need?
I considered giving him a carrot nose but the colour would clash with the background horribly, so I decided against it.

It is always good to catch mistakes in time. But chicken stock is a lot of work. I've never made it myself.

My oldest SF love is the original Battlestar Galactica. And crossovers are my not-so-secret vice. *g*

As for huge stories, I'd actually love to be able to write short things. That way probably more people would read my stuff, and potential beta readers wouldn't run for the hills, screaming.

Ironically I did not catch my mistake this morning. I made blueberry scones & forgot the sugar. Ugh. I didn't realize till after halfway through eating the first one.

I love chicken stock & use it in lots of things. I have a few tricks to make it easier. I save chicken bones, skin, or carcass from roasted chickens in the freezer. Raw or cooked chicken bones I save both. I also save vegetable scraps like garlic skins & carrot or celery ends in the freezer too. Then when I'm ready to make stock I stuff the chicken & veg scraps in my instant pot & fill it with water. Then I let it go for at least 45 mins to several hours. Then I strain & put it in mason jars in the fridge. The straining & putting away is the part that is a pain for me.

He came out so well. I especially like how you did the broom.
