Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: What was the last thing someone made for you?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Go you! At least it was more pleasant than battling the alien plants trying to subjugate Earth!

Today I wove in the ends on the beach cover-up, then dyed it. I wish I'd used my bucket instead of the sink - one of the strings I left loose to seam up the cover-up knotted around the sink plug's chain and pulled it loose while I was dyeing it, and I lost half the dye. Instead of black, it's come out as a charcoal grey. It still looks pretty cool, but I'm a bit upset.

I've set it to block, and once it's dry I'll seam it up and be FINISHED! It took me 13 months from start to finish on this project and I'm proud of myself for sticking with it.

It was so dark here today all day too! We did get some rain, though.

Well done on your progress!

I've made decent progress with pot-holder #6 - only 3 sides of seaming and the hanging are left. Then one more of those to go, and a mammooth project will be out of my hair... eventually.

Oh, and I've changed my DW journal style. I had this wine red for almost two decades by now; I like this new, fresh green(ish) one much better. I also changed my default icon to this crafty one, since my only activites on DW are to check in with this comm and to import my LJ.

Oh dear, such bad luck! But at least you're basically done, and it's no small feat. Congratulations!

A card for my sister's birthday turned out well. The focal point is orchids and she grows orchids. Or (like cats) the orchids allow her to grown them :)

That is a very pretty card!

I did another row on my shawl. I only have 1 more row & one more repeat left before binding off!

I also dug out my spindle & spun the first bit of my birthday roving. It's a mix of wool & mulberry silk and is turquoise, cream and brown. I'm enjoying it so far. I'm trying to spin it fairly thin.

I honestly don't think I can be bothered blocking it again so it'll stay grey XD

Thank you so much!

The birthday roving sounds absolutely beautiful.

I tried my hand at this scarf-with-very-complicated-pattern and of course I fucked up. Not too bad, and I had knitted only a couple of inches so I can easily re-start anew but heh maybe I won't and just keep that for after the holidays?
