Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: If you were only allowed one craft, which would you pick?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Dratted things, always go AWOL when you need them most! *commiserated*

I didn't do much today. All right, I put up the rest of the felt eggs in my study, so that it's all prettied up now, but aside from that... I could have time for writing, but I felt hopelessly uninspired and read fanfic and played Solitaire on Methuselah-the-laptop instead. Shameful, I know. But now that the two urgent craft projects are out of my hair, I feel a bit like a deflated balloon, unable to bring up the energy for anything, really.

One square today.

I cut strips for binding.

However, I need to get some sewing machine oil for my backup machine, which is very much in need of lubricant.

Yesterday, I started making card layout templates. This included samples of "finished" cards and the individual components with their measurements noted on the back. Unfortunately, my tape runners are all missing again and the glue sticks are apparently not holding up, as the cards are already coming apart.

Today was go to Lynne's day. We made quilt inspired cards. I kept it simple: a solid base, layer of printed paper, a layer of white paper, a stamped image that resembled a quilt square in the middle. We drew stich marks on the edges of the printed & white pieces of paper and colored in the stamped image with colored pencils. Lynne's son wants to learn where everything is, so I let him get all of the supplies today (with some supervision to point him in the right direction).

Lynne was also quite happy with everyone's cards, once we were all done. Oh, but getting there was a painful 3 hour slog. (To be fair, an hour of that was getting her to finish her breakfast & morning routine and a house wide hunt for a pencil sharpener.) She was up to all the tasks today, but it was one of those days where she had to be queen bee in charge of every aspect of the day and everything was "stupid." I think this had more to do with her son than me, as when we were working alone, she was fine. The rest would only start when he started working with us or when we were discussing arrangements about her upcoming surgery and he was part of the conversation.

Though at one point, I had finished my card before her (because I was working a step ahead because she needs a visual of what each step looks like before she can do it) and when she noticed I was done, she started in on some nasty grade school level bullying of me and I shut it down immediately.

I have one more Monday with her before her surgery. Her surgery is also that same week. We will see how things go from there.

That is incredibly frustrating. I hope you'll be able to sort things tomorrow when you have the light.

Sounds like a good time to recharge the battery and take a break.

There is that, yeah.

Preparing your materials is important!

I admire your care and patience with your friend. Hopefully the surgery will go well.

Small steps will bring you to your destination, too!

Oh, yes! These are the times when my age catches up with me. Youthful exuberance of the heart is nice, but the creaking joints speak a different language. *g*
